Gen X here. We always imagined this could happen some day. It’s not unimaginable to us. The Day After was seared into our collective memories.
The U.S. is the only country that’s used a nuclear weapon against another nation. WE should be denuclearized. We’re the problem.
Do you know how EXTREMELY FUCKED UP SHIT HAS TO BE for me to be reposting Tucker Carlson positively???
call for an investigation into the president's fitness. call for the house to impeach. say you will obstruct every last bit of senate business. call for soldiers to disregard illegal orders. say you will prosecute the people who do this. say you will take their military pensions and benefits.

Earth.
Artemis II Commander Reid Wiseman took this picture of Earth from the Orion spacecraft after completing the translunar injection burn. There are two auroras (top right & bottom left) and zodiacal light (bottom right) is visible as the Earth eclipses the Sun. 🧪🔭 #Artemis

This is the question I wake up with and go to bed with every day and the rest of my real life is just a deserpate and failing attempt to avoid the question, since I have no answer for it.

Picture of No Kings march today in downtown Seattle.

Beautiful day in Seattle for the march! Initial reports estimate 90,000 participants.
I like the way you think…
Can we all vow to write “Fuck” before his signature on our money or “sucks” after his signature? How about “fucking sucks”? www.nytimes.com/2026/03/26/u...
Rep. Rosa DeLauro, top Dem on the House appropriations panel, says DHS is *choosing* not to pay TSA workers while paying its other employees.
She says:
85% of ICE + CBP are being paid
75% of Secret Service
0% of TSA workers
"The Department made that decision," DeLauro says on the House floor.
“In the United States, 3.5% of the population translates to nearly 12 million people. The “No Kings” movement would need to nearly double in size from its October 2025 levels to reach this threshold.
Boycotts could help reach this tipping point.”
“We believe that protest movements can be more effective when they place more emphasis on boycotts of corporations that support a government’s agenda than on increasing the size and scope of these protests.”
That said, I’ll see you at the No Kings protest in Seattle on Saturday!
What’s more, we’re going to lose a bunch of young people from a lot of gov’t careers. How do I know? My daughter graduated last May with a degree in int’l relations. She had wanted to pursue a career at the state dep’t (FSO) or maybe USAID. That’s off the table now. Forever, I think.
This is a great list of techniques for getting real information out of a Google search and avoiding AI slop and paid results.
(One thing not included is that if you add "-ai" to a search, you block the AI summary) cardcatalogforlife.substack.com/p/google-has...
Even if the ID was “free” it would still cost time and effort to gather birth and marriage certificates, change of name forms, etc. This rigmarole, with the goal of obstructing voting, is also fascist.
This!
Key takeaways:
-This is why the Republican party remains in thrall to Trump. He has the base.
-Elections are won on more than just the base, and Trump's been losing low propensity swing voters since the economy tanked.
-Tucker/MTG/Kent don't represent the base; they're a far-right splinter movement.
"You're taking their entire family tree going back in history," Murphy says. "And you're not just taking their DNA right in this moment in time, you're taking their children's DNA and their children's children's DNA."
It definitely wasn’t easy. He chose to leave and come to the U.S. to further his education, and soon afterwards Nelson Mandela was released from prison. It was years until free elections for all ended apartheid. Looking back, one forgets that it usually takes years for meaningful change to happen!
My boyfriend in grad school was from South Africa and was a conscientious objector as he did not want to uphold the apartheid regime. He’s now a human rights lawyer. Choosing the right side of history can be difficult but it is always the right thing to do. ✊
If you're a service member being ordered to prep for deployment for the War in Iran and you have moral and/or ethical misgivings on all this, remember that you have the right to apply for conscientious objector status.

Seattle finally gets snow this year on Friday the 13th. Frida is unimpressed.

Not sure about me, but my daughter who recently graduated with a degree in international relations might have actually pursued her goal of working for the state department as a FSO or in a large agency like USAID
Because housing assistance is drastically underfunded, only 1 in 4 eligible low-income households receive it.
Providing it to all who qualify would cost $118 billion a year—a tiny fraction of the proposed $1.5 *trillion* defense budget for 2027.
Poverty would fall 13% overall and 23% for children.
Well said
Because of the National driver register, since their licenses are suspended, trans folks cannot move to another state and get a new license until they remove the suspension on their existing Kansas license.
They can't even escape this by moving to another state.
Never in a million years did I ever fathom when I resurrected the Epstein story in 2018 that it would lead to first arrest of a British Royal in four centuries. Not since King Charles I was arrested in 1647.

President Trump is a disgrace. He's easily the most corrupt President in American history by a long shot.
I'm not attending his State of the Union to listen to him ramble and lie.
Instead, I'll be sharing the ways he's hurting hardworking Americans.
