In class, we discussed what a figure of speech is and how it relates to the title of our class novel. We explored this image to identify different figures of speech. Ask your child which ones they discovered!

Recently, we explored characterisation by creating detailed outlines for two of the main characters in our class novel. We analysed their thoughts, feelings, actions, observations and journeys, using evidence from the text to justify our ideas.👧👩📚

As part of our IDL topic on the Afghanistan War, we have been developing our understanding of the geography and history of Afghanistan. The children have explored key locations, significant events and how this relates to our class novel.🗺️

Recently in RME, we have been learning about the religion of Hinduism. We explored some of the key gods and goddesses, first matching them to their descriptions and then carrying out further research. Working in groups, the children created informative posters to present their findings.🎨

Before beginning our new IDL topic on the Afghanistan War, we explored an image showing a house before and after. We used our inference skills to discuss and predict what may have happened, supporting our ideas with evidence from the picture.🏠🧱

This term we introduced a new novel study. We used text clues and examined symbolic items to help us predict what story might be about. Then created colour-coded mind maps to organise and present our initial predictions. We look forward to seeing how our ideas compare as we continue reading.📚

Recently in art, we have been exploring perspective through Post-Impressionism. As part of this, we recreated our own versions of Vincent van Gogh's The Bedroom. 🖼️🛏️

Today we got creative decorating winter biscuits turning them into adorable melting snowmen ⛄️

Reward Pyjama Day - Tomorrow🥳

Primary 6S have earned a special Reward Pyjama Day in class this Thursday, 18th December. Pupils are invited to come to school dressed in their pyjamas and may also bring a blanket/ pillow/ teddy to help them get cosy.🧸

P6S have been busy creating a variety of Christmas decorations for you to purchase at the Christmas fayre tomorrow from 6-8pm ⭐️🎄🔔👼 we look forward to seeing you there! 🎅🏻

Recently in numeracy, we’ve been focusing on developing our multiplication skills. Today, we enjoyed playing a board game to help strengthen and reinforce our learning. ♟️🎲

The class created this amazing display inspired by our class novel Framed by Frank Cottrell Boyce. Everyone spray-painted the frames, created pointillism artwork, and mapped famous art heists with QR-linked presentations. Fantastic teamwork all around!🖼️🖌️

In Art, we are exploring the next movement in time — Postmodernism!🎨🖌️We’ve taken inspiration from the work of Vincent van Gogh to create our own unique pieces of art.🖼️ Students have enjoyed experimenting with colour, texture, and emotion in their creations.🧑‍🎨

In Numeracy, we have also been putting our rounding and estimating skills to good use in a fun group card game! Students worked together to use quick thinking, teamwork, and strategy while practising their maths skills.🃏👏🏼

Recently in Numeracy, we’ve been practicing our rounding and estimating skills. We used a number wheel to generate numbers, then challenged ourselves to round them and record our answers accurately. Everyone has been working hard and growing more confident with their number sense!🎡😄

Last week, we boosted our writing skills by exploring synonyms for different adjectives in groups. Then, after some fun, fast-paced thesaurus races, we used our new vocabulary to enhance and polish our stories!✏️🌟

Everyone has been busy crafting imaginative stories, developing unique characters, and exploring exciting settings — all within just 500 words! The class has shown wonderful enthusiasm, originality, and storytelling talent. 📚🌟

During Term 1 Numeracy, we had lots of fun strengthening our addition and subtraction skills through interactive Kahoot quizzes!🎯💪🏼

As we began exploring our class novel Framed by Frank Cottrell Boyce, we gathered information about the main character and the setting to deepen our understanding of the story.

Last term in numeracy, we explored place value to help us become more confident with addition and subtraction. We had fun using a random number generator to make two-, three-, and four-digit numbers and used them to practise our skills!
