I was a WaPo subscriber for many years.
I don't mind publications that don't print everything I believe as long as there is basic integrity, but I cancelled my subscription when it was clear that Bezo's editorial edict had destroyed any semblance of journalism at the Post.

I think there is also another factor in local elections. So many candidates are not seasoned politicos and just put themselves forward to support their party.
Even when not expected to win I've seen so many take it really personally and lash out. If they can find something to blame they will!

I got this when I replied to an obvious Russian AI bot spewing "left wing" responses about Magyar and Orban.
They'd forgotten to add a filter for the bot's replies!
