I read that as $58 and thought both sides were being admirably sarcastic.

That’s simultaneously off-putting and intriguing… so I’ll take a listen!

Sensitivity, by Carya Amara 8 track album

I unexpectedly was given the chance to use a Buchla synth in 2015. I haven’t had the chance again since, but that’s surely an unrelated fact..? 😜

Condolences to Andy Kershaw’s family. 66 is far too young.

It is rumoured that it was his voice that was sampled for ‘In Malawi’, a silly ditty by Carya Amara that was recorded in 1992, but I couldn’t possibly comment.

Even creatives like people to be slightly informed about subjects before they start oversharing what they “think”.

SIGNAL DEPT EDITION 19 Listening as a Skill We Forgot to Keep

“New music challenges the brain in a way that familiar music does not. That unfamiliarity forces a kind of struggle to understand the new sound, and that struggle is not a failure state. It is where the perceptual reward actually lives.”

Perhaps labels should brag when using POW-r #3 dithering, because it’s ONE MORE DITHERY than POW-r #2. “Don’t settle for less!”

The time to fret about such audio engineering minutiae is at the mastering stage, just out of theory / best practice. Will the listener normally detect any difference? No.

Bandcamp and Dither I couldn't find a post directly speaking to this topic, so here I go. Bandcamp offer to load...

More seriously… For anyone who is interested in the issue of 16-bit versus 24-bit audio in connection with Bandcamp—in particular for those dithering over whether their dithering of 24-bit audio will be better than Bandcamp’s—this thread on Gearspace is worth a look.

“All [redacted] digital releases are cut from the 24BIT Master Source.”

Since when have download-only releases been “cut from” the digital master? 🍷👃

Is this a job for the irritating “SNAKE OIL?” YouTube thumbnail guy or are our speaker cables simply the wrong colour?

When I joined Bluesky, people did say there were a lot of Fauré posts. I think that’s what they said.

Many thanks to DNT for supporting and distributing my music. They’ve been sharp shooters since the beginning, and I’m excited for this era 2.0. I’m happy and proud to be included in their great new shop.

This 39-minute album of experimental yet engaging electronic music has a minimum price on Bandcamp of just £1. That’s not a reflection of the music’s quality or the time and effort that went into it, but to encourage you to listen.
