I mean the problem is the iphone cannot predict the future (it can't silence one text knowing that others are coming in quick succession, because it doesn't know that others are coming)

12/ When you have a bunch of public meetings, you're essentially attempting to extract an opinion from an entity (the public) that largely does not have one. But that entity can produce the simulacrum of an opinion, if pressed. It can produce a room full of 70 cranks willing to give a two min speech

The US Spends More Time and Money Building Transit Than Most Countries. Inefficient Community Engagement May Help Explain Why. Public participation remains essential, and policymakers can take steps to ensure engagement processes reflect the entire community’s needs without increasin…

Transit construction costs in the US keep rising, and projects keep taking longer and longer to build.

One possible explanation? Ineffective, inefficient community engagement processes, we argue @urbaninstitute.bsky.social ⏬

When I order this for delivery I end up also making chili oil out of the chilies. Cook’s Illustrated recommends doing that as they typically have lots of flavor left.

I was there last year. It’s gotta be terrifying to be stuck on top of the pyramid with a shooter. Those steps are large, steep, and hard to get down on in a hurry

as far as I can tell venture X is the most bang for the buck as long as you don't often want to bring traveling companions into lounges (those come with a fee with venture X, as opposed to competing cards like chase sapphire)

“there’s no ai bubble” actually an underspecified take. while the technology is real, many companies are fishing for investor money and throwing literally anything at the wall to see what sticks. more refined: “the ai bubble popping will kill the agentic vape”

oh yeah BER sucks because lufthansa still refuses to use it as a hub

16 hours ago 1 0 1 0

there are also specific circumstances in my case, which is that my local airport is not the hub of any airline, so there is not any one airline that is always the best choice

I'm speaking to the 'more than a couple times' threshold (which I fall under), if you do fly twice a month or whatever to places served by a specific airline maybe the airline card works out better. My travels are sufficiently diffuse but still >2 times a year that I prefer airline agnosticism

get one of the good travel credit cards instead for lounge access and precheck reimbursement.

Engels said that "in the interest of its own development
Mexico should be placed under the tutelage of the United States." Не
called the French conquest of Algeria "an important and fortunate
fact for the progress of civilization," and pronounced Canada "ripe
for annexation.... The economic necessity of an infusion of Yankee
blood will have its way.

California seems to be very good at mixing the worst urges of western cowboy libertarianism with micromanaging progressivism.

Like, I should have a god given right to build in wildfire zones, but also it should be illegal to build tall buildings in Santa Monica
