Thanks to everyone sharing kind words and your own stories of loss and hope.

I’m eternally grateful for the time I had with her and for the science that will give more time to others.

She made me feel so loved, and all I wish for everyone in the world is to feel the same.

Just sobbed hardest I have since my mom died in 2020.

She missed these trials by a few months.

One of most ruthless cancers. Hard to fathom that maybe she'd still be here.

I feel such a hole inside.

In case you're wondering if we should fund mRNA research instead of another stupid war ... yes.

Opinion | My friend is locked up in Kuwait for committing journalism Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani: Award-winning independent journalist Ahmed Shihab-Eldin has been detained in Kuwait for the past six weeks.

"While we can’t claim the mantle of leadership right now, the U.S. can try to reclaim some dignity if the State Department fights for the immediate release of Ahmed Shihab-Eldin from detention in Kuwait," FPF's @adamrose.bsky.social told MS NOW.

U.S. allows. In fact, it’s a big source of tax revenue because the U.S. is one of only two countries that tax their citizens who reside overseas … and those are frequently dual citizens.

Can Pope Leo remain a U.S. citizen now that he's a foreign head of state? Pope Leo XIV’s election as the first American to lead the Catholic Church elevated him to the rare position of being a U.S. citizen who is also a foreign head of state.

He's had at least three citizenships: U.S., Peru, and Vatican.

All allow dual/multiple citizenships, so it's possible he still has all three.

Per SCOTUS, it's nearly impossible to lose U.S. citizenship without trying. He could renounce but doesn't have to.

I had the privilege of working with Ahmed Shihab-Eldin at HuffPost. Such a warm, sweet human being.

We don't know what he posted that led to Kuwait detaining him, unseen now for six weeks.

He's posted against Israel's war on Iran. Kuwait is against it too.

None of this makes sense.

Swalwell scandal sparks fears of deeper rot on Capitol Hill Former lawmakers across the political spectrum have warned for years of a hushed congressional bacchanal marked by inappropriate revelry and sexual misconduct.

Good. They should be afraid. Both the creeps and their enablers.

Sooner they're out, the better. I don't care which party they're in.

Los Angeles. CA
Anti ice protest.
LAPD triggered a dispersal order and then violently arrested a number of protesters. Some were release a short time later. Officers also violated penal code 409.7. Intended to protect journalists, by threatening and assaulting journalists.

LAPD is always whining to me they can’t do their job if press are too close.

Allow me to introduce Exhibit A, disproving themselves as they throw a protester on top of a photographer and still manage to make the arrest.

I can’t find snailb_photographing on Bsky. Go see their whole series on Insta!

I’ve heard something like that but never found a reliable report that backs it up. Certainly more great fodder for a fictional TV show character, though.

There was also some email sign off she had with a cringey sword reference. Obviously metaphorical, but still “am I really reading this?” stuff.

Unclear so far. Not widely available and I’ve only seen news reports. I would speculate it’s very likely to include not all but many, given 7.7 TB size and reports of how these were files for settlements that would presumably have kept potential misconduct records from release.

If Los Angeles City Attorney Hydee Feldstein-Soto was written as a character in a courtroom TV drama, nobody would believe it.

With a backstory like this, the writers 100% would have to give her a story arc about a bonkers data leak.

Unfortunately it’s all real.

Albania could complete EU membership in the next few years, so it’s a very attractive passport for a lot people. And I think the only almost-but-not-yet EU country that allows dual citizenship.

Around 12:50 p.m., a Border Patrol agent threw a tear gas canister that landed near Caravello. After an unsuccessful attempt to kick it away from the crowd, he picked it up and threw it in a high arc over the heads of the federal agents. Although the canister did not hit or injure any agent, Caravello was arrested later that day and eventually charged with assaulting a federal officer with a dangerous or deadly weapon.

The footage also showed the agents laughing over their use of tear gas and celebrating so-called Triple-Chaser canisters as “fucking awesome.” Minutes before Cortez deployed the tear gas canister that Caravello threw, he rejected a suggestion from another agent to create a diversion to move protesters away from the road and called for more tear gas.

“We’ll fucking gas the shit out of them like we did earlier,” Cortez said.

The jury selection process on Tuesday provided a glimpse into the strong opposition to the federal government’s anti-immigration policies in Los Angeles county, which is nearly 50% Hispanic or Latino, and has been terrorized by immigration raids since last summer. Of the pool of more than 60 potential jurors, about 20 said they had participated in protests. Several described being personally at risk from immigration agents or having family members deported. When U.S. District Judge Cynthia Valanzuela asked the potential jurors if any of them had opinions of Border Patrol, the Department of Homeland Security, or the federal government that would prevent them from being an impartial juror, at least 10 voiced concerns.

“I just don’t like them. I don’t like their morals,” said one potential juror.

If someone was throwing tear gas at federal agents, “I might applaud them,” another said.

“I would want to crucify them,” said a third, referring to the federal government.

Fed prosecutors in LA lose (yet again!) with BS charges of protester violence against immigration officers.

Check out WILD quotes. If prosecutors call it "dangerous or deadly weapon" maybe they should criminally charge agents.

Also... jury pool is sick of this!

LAPD misconduct has defunded the City of Los Angeles to the tune of $430 million. That will soar after new claims the past few months.

Karen Bass has been an elected official 20+ years. As mayor she appointed the chief and entire police commission.

She’s never said ONE WORD about this in public.

On a sunny Monday morning, the president spoke to the children about eggs and war.
“They said normally, when you’re in very hostile territory — and I don’t think it gets much more hostile than Iran. They’re capable fighters,” said President Donald Trump, describing the mission to rescue the crew of a F-15E fighter shot down in Iran to an audience of hundreds of children dressed in pastel dresses, bow ties and bunny ears. “Where a pilot’s shot down, in most instances, you’re really not able to go in, because you’ll go in with 200 people and lots of jet fighters and helicopters, and you really don’t have a chance. They get shot down. You lose 200 in order to pick up one, it’s a horrible thing.”

It was the White House Easter Egg Roll, an annual tradition dating back to the presidency of Rutherford B. Hayes. The White House’s columns were festooned in red, white and baby-blue plaid and accented with white floral arrangements. A bunny dressed in matching plaid stood beside the president, unblinking, as Trump detailed his accomplishments: “We had a dead country. We had an administration that didn’t know what the hell they were doing. Today, we have the hottest country anywhere in the world. We’re respected by everybody.”
On to the eggs, then.

Plenty of reasons for 25th Amendment, but we shouldn't ignore how a geriatric president spent the WH Easter Egg Roll talking at children about losing hundreds of troops and our "dead country."

We've known for years he's mentally unfit. Now it's just so naked.

Activists suing LAPD allege officer shot foam rounds at their groins at point-blank range Three prominent activists have filed a lawsuit against the LAPD, claiming an officer shot at them from close range with less-lethal projectiles during a protest last year.

I can assure everyone that LAPD doesn't always shoot "less lethal" munitions at people's head.

Sometimes they shoot at people's groin.

(JFC... They're under a federal injunction that prohibits this conduct. Why do we NEVER hear about any officers punished?)

A second photographer in Los Angeles lost an eye to law enforcement "less-lethal" munitions while just taking pictures at protests.

These weapons are supposed to be used ONLY for immediate violent threats.

Marshall Woodruff and now Tucker Collins were armed with nothing but a camera.

CBS Sets ‘Late Show’ Replacement: Byron Allen’s ‘Comics Unleashed’ The show, currently airing at 12:35 a.m., will move up an hour the day after Stephen Colbert signs off.

CBS is replacing the #1 show in late night TV with a program paid for like an infomercial.

No shade on Byron Allen, who may be a good person and business mind, but he's literally paying for this air time. CBS would rather do that deal than be blamed for making #1 shows that hurt Trump's feelings.
