I toured the Good Companions 50+ club and met the new executive director, Padraig. Thanks for inviting me to pop into the Men's Sheds, a group designed to help men find connections, support, and socialization in retirement.

1/2: I delivered closing remarks to the Powering Prosperity summit hosted by Canada Powered by Women.
The day brought together leaders from across sectors to focus on practical, business-driven solutions that connect energy policy to economic growth and everyday affordability.

2/3: This virtual reality system immerses students in lifelike patient scenarios, helping them practice symptom identification and decision-making.
I then met with President and CEO Dr. Misheck Mwaba and VP Academic Dr. Mehdi Sheikhzadeh to talk about student issues and immigration policies.
1/3: I visited the new Bow Valley College School of Health and Wellness.
It includes a mock pharmacy, and uses cutting edge AI and 3D to replicate a real-world clinic with hospital beds, functioning medical equipment, and AI-driven mannequins that interact with students.

1/2: Delighted to attend Contemporary Calgary's event to kick off the LOOK26 auction.
The exhibition is on display at the gallery from April 3—May 2, offering the public the opportunity to view the works and place advance bids ahead of the LOOK26 "Off the Path" gala on May 2.
Saturday was Marda Loop EggFest. Rocky joined me to tour shops, meet owners and the guests hunting for chocolate eggs. One guy (pic 2) had been there a while! No chocolate for Rocky but some owners offered treats & water to 4-legged customers.

5/5: The government says it is monitoring the situation.
Not good enough.
Countries including Australia, Spain and Ireland have already lowered taxes.
It's time to take action to help Canadians.
#calgarycentre #yyc #cdnpoli #gasprices #gastaxes
4/5: Removing these taxes would help not only individuals and families, and workers who need vehicles, but would also lower costs for businesses that transport goods - such as groceries, household goods, or homebuilding supplies.
3/5: That would save about $20 per mini-van fill-up.
The Fuel Standard tax would then be permanently eliminated go-forward, as would the Industrial Carbon Tax which indirectly adds tax and costs to most items.
Tax relief would also apply to diesel.
2/5: The Federal Excise Tax is 10 cents/litre, the Clean Fuel regulations cost 7 cents/litre, & add about 8 cents GST. The province is charging 13 cents/litre. So 38 cents of every litre goes to govts.
Conservatives have proposed a suspension of the federal taxes (25 cents) until the end of 2026.
1/5 🧵: As you drive this weekend to visit family and friends, you will cringe if you have to fill the tank. I've spotted between $1.60 and $1.75. Ouch!
Some of that hike is provoked by the war in Iran and rising oil prices. But taxes are a big part of the price at the pump.
Today Christians mark the sacrifice of Jesus, at the heart of the Christian faith. It centers on sacrifice, gratitude & hope of redemption: a day for reflection & new beginnings. May the blessings of this Holy Day bring you peace, hope & faith.

3/3: Host Steven Bartlett asked about affordability, homebuilding, energy, technology, immigration & his fears for Canada & the western world.
Pierre argued against tariffs, again condemned 51st state comments & argued why US should want more Cdn goods.
#calgarycentre #yyc #cdnpoli #CanadaEconomy
2/3: Poilievre made the case for unleashing oil production in Canada, clearing the regulatory bureaucracy, speeding up permits, having a stronger dollar, and his overriding mission to make Canada the most affordable, freest, and richest country in the world.
1/3: CPC Leader Pierre Poilievre guested on "Diary of a CEO" podcast released today. The podcast has 50M regular monthly listeners/viewers in 180 countries, skewing young to ages 18 to 34, equally men and women. It is the second most popular podcast on Spotify.

4/4: "That means our capital stock per worker is actually declining. The prospects for a turnaround in 2026 appear weak."
#calgarycentre #yyc #cdnpoli #CanadaEconomy
3/4: "In total, non-residential business investment per worker is nearly a quarter below its 2014 peak. Over the past decade, investment in new capital has lagged the rate at which existing capital wears out and goes obsolete.
2/4: Read the fine print here: cdhowe.org/publication/...
CD Howe says, "Nearly half of last year’s inflow came through mergers and acquisitions of existing Canadian businesses, well above the historical norm of around one-third. That’s not new capital creation." ...
1/4: Govt is bragging about small increase in foreign investment but as the CD Howe Institute points out, not all investment has the same impact.
Foreign investment that just buys up existing Cdn assets isn't all that helpful. What we need is investment that builds things; creates jobs & wealth.
2/2: That includes domestic manufacturing, defence procurement, pipelines, trade diversification and carbon pricing. Without major infrastructure—including pipelines, ports, and trade corridors—Canada will remain heavily dependent on the USA as our primary customer.
#calgarycentre #cdnpoli #yyc
1/2: Podcast with Falice Chan at The Hub. What is holding Canada back? Not lack of announcements; we've had plenty of those. Instead we need investment, productivity and a more complex economy—more manufacturing, critical minerals, and Cdn resources going to global markets.

4/4: The chart may be hard to see. Find it in the OECD report at oecd.org/en/publicati...
#calgarycentre #yyc #cdnpoli #CanadaEconomy
3/4: The modest projected return to 1.7% in 2027 is significantly attributed by the OECD to increased government spending.
Government spending is a costly way to raise GDP. It comes with debt & rising interest payments.
Far preferable to create favourable conditions for business investment.
