Prime Minister Carney announces new Advisory Committee on Canada-U.S. Economic Relations April 21, 2026 Ottawa, Ontario Canada’s new government is forging a new economic and security relationship with the United States. Prime Minister Carney has secured the best deal of any major U.S. trading partner – 85% of our trade with the United States remains tariff-free, the lowest average tariff rate in the world. As Canada approaches the Joint Review of the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA), our aim is to preserve that unique Canadian advantage and to build on it. To that end, the Prime Minister, Mark Carney, today announced the creation of the new Advisory Committee on Canada-U.S. Economic Relations. The committee will serve as a forum for expertise and strategy on all aspects of the Canada-U.S. economic relationship. The Advisory Committee will include leaders from major sectors of the Canadian economy, representing extensive experience in business, investment, trade, and labour. It will be chaired by the President of the King’s Privy Council for Canada and Minister responsible for Canada-U.S. Trade, Intergovernmental Affairs, Internal Trade and One Canadian Economy, Dominic LeBlanc. The Prime Minister is pleased to announce the following members: Jean Simard Candace Laing Darryl White Lisa Raitt Tracy Robinson Flavio Volpe Ron Bedard Ken Seitz Dennis Darby Lana Payne François Poirier Émile Cordeau Luc Thériault Magali Picard Jonathan Price Susan Yurkovich Michael Harvey Tabatha Bull Cameron Bailey Valérie Beaudoin Erin O’Toole Jean Charest P.J. Akeeagok Ralph Goodale The Advisory Committee will hold its first meeting on April 27, 2026. Prime Minister Carney thanks the members of the former Council on Canada-U.S. Relations for their service during a consequential period in the bilateral relationship. Canada’s trading relationship with the U.S. is a critical contributor to a competitive North American continental economy, supporting millions of jobs on both…

There has been an ages-old fight at Queenston Heights that the Sir Issac Brock monument should have been dwarfed by a Laura Secord monument and now our Prime Minister is telling the tall tale of sexist history women have decried for DECADES. I am losing my mind.
Canadians know about Laura Secord more than Sir Issac Brock for a reason. I cannot believe we are re-litigating this as Liberals revise history in the tradition of Stephen Harper. Everything is so stupid, no one reads.
I know you spent most of your life outside Canada Prime Minister @mark-carney.bsky.social, let me give you a quick history lesson as to how the Americans finally backed off:

Disease used to kill more soldiers than munitions, but go off.
Reminder that analysts thought there was a deal to be struck with North Korea in 2017-2018, not to denuclearize (they won't), but to count/verify nukes, stabilize situation. Trump didn't order any diplomatic work for that and instead did a photo op with Kim.
His diplomacy and his deals are fake.

The new Canada-US Advisory Council is a bigger group than the headline and photo focused on. It is chaired by Dominic LeBlanc and includes many experts in industry and finance.

WOW: A stunning new report in the WSJ reveals that military advisers intentionally excluded Donald Trump from the command room during the recent high-stakes operation to extract a downed U.S. airman in Iran, because they feared his erratic behavior could jeopardize the mission. 1/
Tim Cook donated $1M to Trump’s inauguration.
He fawned over Trump and gifted him a 24-karat gold plaque (as Apple lobbied for tariff exemptions).
Apple donated to Trump’s White House ballroom.
And it removed ICE tracking apps from its stores following a demand from the DOJ.
Remember this.
