And as for the sense of belonging, I feel that. I don't have any friends IRL in my area since I cut ties with a lot of them over lingering drama, that and them not being terribly receptive to me coming out as trans.
Since made some fucking wonderful friends via vtubing and I'm thankful for that.
It is, you're not wrong. But don't let that deter you by any means. There's more than enough room at the table for everyone. And remember, three people is still a full couch. That's still a lot of people coming to watch you, and who are entertained by you. Any more and you've got a full room!
For me, I've always grounded myself with it considering it a hobby. Any money I happen to get from it is just a nice bit of icing on the cake.
I personally can't stand most of vtuber and streamer culture in general too. I try my best to deviate from the common practices as best I can.
Been through all this and more, to be honest.
I say this as someone both trans and on the spectrum like yourself, but instead of looking externally to what others are doing, look to what -you- want out of streaming.
To disable it, do the following
Server Settings > Roles > Click any role > Permissions > Search for "External" and it should come up.
From there, you can click on each role in your list and disable it for all in less than a minute or two.
Double emphasis on disabling "Use External Apps" for any roles if you have happen to be a content creator with a Discord server.
That feature alone has caused issues for many in the past, as bad actors will use external apps to sneak in all sorts to harass your community.

The weird part here is that a lot of FPS games -did- have left/centre/right options for gun placement during the time when arena shooters were the big thing. I remember it even in the very first Unreal game.
The fact so many opt to neglect it nowadays honestly just comes off as lazy.

Exactly. Sometimes all it takes is looking back at your own VODs when with a fresh perspective, or even just having someone else say you're funny/engaging or whatever.
I deal with it a lot myself, and even just the tiniest bit of validation can go a long way to shake the brainworms off.
Lurked in your streams a few times recently, and honestly I think you're always engaging, on point. and legitimately funny.
Can sometimes be hard to see that in yourself though. Just remember, you've got loving community for a reason!
