I took Via Rail from Toronto to Ottawa and back. Not a big deal, you would think, except it took up two days of my life and cost me hundreds of dollars on top of the ticket. lloydalter.substack.com/p/train-brai...
Trump has ordered attacks in seven countries since returning to office. That’s just one less than the number of wars he asserts he ended and seven more than he actually ended.
The richest man owns X.
The second and third richest men control Google.
The fourth richest man owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
The fifth richest man owns The Washington Post.
And now the sixth richest could soon take over both Paramount and Warner Bros.
See the problem here?
“Citizens are neither stopping nor impeding the government’s work. They are merely documenting it. And for this affront, the government treats them as adversaries to be controlled, intimidated, arrested, beaten, and occasionally killed.”

The stat is for duals. If you moved to Canada, Australia or NZ after the war there was no citizen test since you were a British subject in all places. The idea of being dual comes later.
100%. I just don’t think the Foreign Office took into account how many expats this would affect. Seemed to be more targeted to UK residents. My bet is there is some kind of walk back or extension. Pretty sad if you went to pick up Gran for her visit and they wouldn’t let her through.
I don't know. I do know it takes a lot longer than a month to renew a British passport in Canada, and longer still to apply for one (at least for my kids). And, as far as I know the airlines have been selling tickets to anyone with a valid passport of any kind. Strikes me as a bit of a mess.
Absolutely, and First World problems, etc. It's just that there are 400,000 of these people in Canada who hadn't heard of this until this week, when Canadian media picked up on it. The FO has not been in touch! It might take a while to process them. Not sure it's been fully thought out.
Hey, this is a big deal overseas. Millions of Brits emigrated to places like the US, Canada and Australia, particularly in the 1950s and 60s, many of them were small children. They've never had UK passports because they didn't need them to visit a cousin or take a layover at LHR. It's a shock.

Pisco Sour Hour, surely? They look delicious.
The administration stayed home from Halifax and forced the US military to do so as well. This isn’t an aberration: Also over the weekend, the administration boycotted the G20 in S Africa. How does the Trump team expect to win any diplomatic victories when it’s not even on the field? wapo.st/4oZH3wz
