So you know, this specific instance of you doing your job well is how you gained this follower. Brava. Keep at it!

Granted. Of course one of the potential outcomes is significant concentration of wealth. (I'd argue that it's among the more likely outcomes.) Which of our libertarian principles prevent, discourage, or mitigate it? (Not to be hung up on "libertarian" or not, what do you propose to distribute it?)

I really want to know what this means, but I fear I never will. (And with no false modesty, I think I'm pretty smart.)

I find this really interesting. Do you think that the free market principles generally supported by libertarians (like us) prevent or abet the concentration of wealth? I'm sincerely not sure, because I think it does some of both, and other factors are at play.

FWIW, this reader found that to be valuable context.

Regional? Or new? I too learned that this is a thing by reading this skeet.
(FWIW: Born New Haven, raised DC suburbs, 59 years old, very favorite holiday is this one, and I like to cook.)

I usually agree with Tom, but I simply do not care how others dress. So what if "techbros" dress like little boys? (I can generate the tiniest of f's to give if someone is dressing with the intention of calling attention to themselves, but that's merely annoying, and otherwise who cares.)

Also, people get desensitized to their own stink. I'll never stop apologizing for how little I realized the stink I carried everywhere when I was a smoker, but I really didn't know until I quit.

He might just be some combination of oblivious, inconsiderate, and disgusting, but it's hard to know. I had to deal with a situation like this with someone I supervised, and it was 100% obliviousness. He fixed it immediately, but thereafter seemed resentful as though it was an invented issue.

A kindly worded (but direct) typewritten note, taped up in the elevator? Maybe with a sentence about reaching out for help if sone is needed? (Depression can cause people to neglect personal hygiene, even while they attend to life's other business.)

I hope that you'll write an article expanding on this theme.

Why does everyone keep calling it “The Epstein Ballroom?” Please stop repeating “The Epstein Ballroom” because it is not called “The Epstein Ballroom!” Don’t tell the news that it’s called “The Epstein Ballroom” and please don’t repost this!!!!!

I'm unqualified to comment on theology, but you're clearly an asshole. That said, I didn't take this comment to be a claim about the purpose of Judaism, I took it to be a claim about the purpose of Christianity. An effort to clarify might have helped, but instead you had to be a dick about it.

You are very fair usually, and I agree with you on most things, but you're not being fair here. The star on the flag is an item on a list of things (evidence that Israeli law and society privileges Jews), nothing there indicating that she is "upset" by that one thing. If she's wrong, argue that.

This is clever but I don't think it's true! Serious people read...even the young ones!

FWIW, as an observer with no dog in the fight, I caught the (sympathetic, I thought) sarcasm immediately.

Ezra Klein’s most recent column gives the game away: he talks about how horrified he was by Kirk’s assassination because he identifies with Kirk. Kirk, like Klein, talked for a living. So even if they had different policy positions, to some degree, Klein sees himself in Kirk.

It's possible that they believe there to be some kind of material difference between expressing their opposition via skeet/post/rant and the actual sign-up. I think that you're right about that distinction being irrelevant, but only with a low degree of confidence.

But the protofascists haven't taken over the Canadian government yet. Let's hope they don't.

Remember, he's 40. "The mid 90s" is when he reached sufficient maturity to have an adolescent's comprehension of what the ACLU even is, and his particular pathology is that of a broken soul composed entirely of adolescent grievances, forever and ever while the popular kids suffer by his hand.

We have to continue to demand the right for all of us always. We aren't guaranteed to win this fight, but we might. (I like our chances, actually). But even if it looked hopeless that would be no reason to surrender.

this from my piece on charlie kirk is probably the most important takeaway if you want to know why bad faith, right-wing voices in media are treated as just another set of peers

This is insightful, and such a clear articulation of something that I perceived but could not articulate. (Yes, I am aware that you are in fact a professional articulator of thoughts. Thank you.)

I know what you mean of course, but "...domestic violence advocates" made me cringe a little.
