I get wanting to write in a naturalistic way, where names are rarely used, but it doesn't help me know who I'm watching.

I can tell you the names of characters in shows I've never seen from 50 years ago, but can't name Quinta Brunson's character on Abbott Elementary, despite seeing every episode.

Am I the only one who can never remember the character names in modern TV shows?

"Bye-Bye, Birdie" is one of my favorite musical plays and one of my least favorite movies. The original stage version takes a sarcastic bite out of 1950s Americana. The film version turns Dick Van Dyke into the inventor of speed.
