I think it's a mistake to say they don't understand the technology, they do. The risks don't matter to them, control does, being able to pin all your online activity to your file somewhere is something they're willing to risk your safety for.
It's certainly worth the cost of your privacy to them.
There appears to be a pattern of sorts happening in the U.S. The national media isn’t covering many of these fires happening across the country. However, local media networks are and you have to search for them. This is what I’ve found so far.
Hey seriously, literally in the bills it says they'll also use identifying information, such as your age data for "other purposes". That means your data goes into a government surveillance database. This would be for ANY *OS*, which is the thing your fucking PC runs off of.

The United States is losing one of its defining industries because of not having universal healthcare and the people are going to be even more vulnerable to the industry.
This is, btw, why Meta has been secretly sponsoring/white papering all these internet age verification laws.
If advertisers realize half the people viewing the ads they spend top dollar on are fake, it could lead to some nasty law suits or a major reduction in profit for Meta.
