Tropical forests in the Americas are changing too slowly to track climate change Understanding the capacity of forests to adapt to climate change is of pivotal importance for conservation science, yet this is still widely unknown. This knowledge gap is particularly acute in high-b...

Are tropical forests in the Americas changing as adaptation to ongoing climate change? Yes, they are!
Are these changes enough to track their suitable climate?
Not quite! Check out our paper in @science.org www.science.org/doi/10.1126/... to see more of what our network has been working on!

Really nice and somehow also really worrying paper 🥺

These points are so crucial! I’ve seen so many posts about the loss of fieldwork experience based on the new publication, but few have mentioned paths forward. I’d like to add that fieldwork takes a lot of *time* - so we also need long-term funding and longer contracts for people.

The PSECO lab was at #BES2024 this week! We spoke about links between plant traits and soil communities, drought-induced shifts in the effect of microbes on plant-plant interactions, and drought effects on soil biodiversity in agricultural systems. @marigliesch.bsky.social @annacloc.bsky.social

Soil microbiomes show consistent and predictable responses to extreme events - Nature Soils from 30 grasslands across Europe were subjected to 4 contrasting extreme climatic events under drought, flood, freezing and heat conditions, with the results suggesting that soil microbiomes fro...

It’s out!! We subjected soils from 30 different locations across Europe to extreme events and found that soil fungal and bacterial communities showed consistent responses that could be predicted from their origin! With @knightjar.bsky.social and many collaborators!
