Right. There are mountains of lore but a movie similar to the story in the game itself would be like 80s fantasy action schlock

I also work at a university that paid lots of tariffs on federal research grants. Many of those projects have since come to an end. If we get refunded it will need to be returned to the sponsor and just forever lowered what was available for research

We looked into some of this where I work a few years ago and ended up instead spending that money on far more panels in an adjacent field

Installing solar on rooftops is a lot cheaper then building lots of rooftops just for solar. The expense of building so many weight bearing structures starts to get more pricey than the panels themselves.

I'm skeptical there really will be a us blockade. Are they really going to fire on Chinese flagged civilian ships? This seems like a bluff that will get called

The monkeys paw version of this is the military starts trying to turn a profit

Probably some "tough guy" stuff like: you do what we want or we let bombs do the talking, do you understand? Which seems to be their only card

Mythos isn't AGI and the security vulnerabilities it found could likely take down all the power grids in the world and infect every computer. You don't need AGI to be wildly valuable and capable. There is very real ability here and so it will be developed

There are lots of dumb things the models do and I watch the funny YouTube shorts, but I think we do ourselves a disservice by thinking that stuff is permanent.

Energy grids, banks, you name it, suddenly a LOT is vulnerable. And an arms race that takes place in this arena at the scale and speed LLMs allow for is genuinely frightening

Vibe coding is good or bad depending how it's implemented. Lots of implementations are going to create long term problems, but those are solvable problems. But I don't just mean security detection. Something like mythos means random people have access to state level cyber hacking tools.

I don't know the future and I'm not saying it will be the only technology humans ever create again, but a lot of folks think it's going away because datacenter rollout isn't matching the earlier claims, like in the OP. It's not going away, and it's going to rapidly expand.

I've advocated for delaying adoption of AI products where I work, and I think at least the current gen products in my industry are marketing hype. But a llm designed drug is in human trials presently and that was with models from years ago. Mythos' security vulnerability detection is a seashift.

But those students need somewhere to live. The more units coming online the lower the price pressure. Universities building more housing is great not because students are in a different market but because it's a single market. More housing means lower prices no matter who builds

The ability to find an entire new landscape of security vulnerabilities is wildly valuable. This isn't like is it worth it to get a summary of your email. I am an AI hater but it isn't going away.

An llm just revealed itself to be both the biggest cyber security threat and protection tool ever invented. There is something really there.

Why isn't there a Castlevania story driven rpg? The TV shows show how much story there is abailable.

Really? So much of sci fi is social commentary, especially utopian stuff. Ursula k le guin, Octavia butler, nk jemisin. Part of what makes a lot of these stories compelling is because they have something interesting to say about us. I'm surprised to hear that doesn't do anything for you.

Also such a remarkable lack of internal insight that you're always communicating something about your world view even if you don't intend to do it

Ugh, I'm so jealous. I hope you're having fun and asking the right questions. The overall series ending isn't perfect but it does a good job sticking the landing overall. But it's a show that's hard to talk about without giving stuff away
