When I get my hair cut I ask for textured ends instead of a blunt cut, it helps layer/lighten the hair to let my hair do the wavy thing, though results are very weather dependent!

Event art I did for a friend’s local strength competition that values mental health, inclusion, and community. Hosted by an area Norge Lodge. Watching her walk this path and grow into a leader and coach has been inspiring and heartwarming. There are so many ways to be the good kind of strong.

Emma, who is still recovering from the shock, says without thinking, “you are so full of—“ before catching herself and amending to, “nnnice words,” but she can’t stop herself from adding, “but i genuinely can’t see my work as anything but trash and it makes me thínk less of you for liking—” She is cut off again by a shock. “no,” says the voice. The voice says, “you’re a good mom.” “Tha—“ says Emma, starting to contradict, before gritting her teeth and saying, “—ank you. That’s kind of you to say.” She holds her forced smile but flinches, anticipating another shock. Instead, the voice says, “you’re good at your job.” Emma, frustrated, yells, “what???” She quickly tries to add “a sweet thing to say,” but is cut off again by another shock.

oh, personal chef is a great idea. I also enjoy cooking but not having to worry about it half the time because someone’s professionally invested in me getting better nutrition would be huge for day to day health.

We had a cat with a similar nose for 15 years and it never affected her breathing and she didn’t have issues with respiratory infections. Sending good thoughts for your fur bucket!

We also had mini whistles we gave out for free so it was over all a boost to see that whole spectrum of expressions of creativity, appreciation for folklore, and care for each other. Just a warm cup of cocoa for my heart.

Do want to say I vended an outdoor holiday night market last weekend and it was delightful chatting with folks about love of handcrafted things and the crossroads of the joyful and macabre. The only break I got was when a 100 person winter spirit, giant puppet, and krampus run marched through.

Finalizing the design for a block print greeting card, I’ve been making a new one each year for vending at a local dark holiday market with a Wild Hunt procession. Looking forward to busting out my carving tools and little print press (I gifted myself a press last year and oh the time it saves).

yeeep. I was born in that base’s hospital, we live not far from the cut off. I don’t think the freeway has ever been closed for live fire, part of why it’s the only way north is because the base has a ton of land that’s just for exercises where roads and development can’t happen.

Unscheduled live fire exercise at Camp Pendleton over I5 closes down the freeway in a location that basically doesn’t have any detour. Ordered by the White House. Blocks a major La <-> SD corridor. In the middle of the day. A very specific day. I’m sure it’s a coincidence

we just found out that a chunk of highway that effectively is the only way out of San Diego (unless you take smaller routes east) is being shut down today for military operations involving live fire, no notice.
