Pennsylvania must continue to invest in proven community services. I will continue to fight for this with my partners in the Black Maternal Health Caucus. 2/2

I was honored to speak on a recent #PAHouse resolution marking Maternal Health Awareness Day. It’s a reminder of the importance of caring for mothers, families and communities. It’s also a reminder that our work is not done because access to services are not equal. 1/2

Thank you to my colleagues in the #PAHouse for supporting my efforts to provide important, life-saving tests to those facing the prospects of a breast cancer diagnosis. I am so honored and overjoyed that this legislation will be signed into law by Governor Shapiro.

If you happen to come to the #PACapitol you’ll see the #LightsOfHope. Each luminary commemorates the brave souls that we have lost and those who survived the horrors of breast cancer. If you feel something wrong or are at risk, please get yourself screened, you won’t regret it. youtu.be/6AqXQxSXAmA
This is a calculated and deliberate dismantling of Public Education. There’s no sugarcoating the catastrophic impact on the progress we have made to close the learning gap. I’m calling on parents, teachers, neighbors and all who are willing to stand for our kids.

I fully support this bill aimed at combatting maternal mortality rates. This bill would require private health insurance to cover necessary home blood pressure monitors as a pregnancy-related service. High blood pressure is a serious risk during pregnancy & the postpartum year. youtu.be/6mzvebl4y-g
It’s long overdue that we deliver on a livable minimum wage. $7.25/hour is simply too low and people across the state are struggling to provide for their families. I’m a strong supporter of restoring dignity back into the Commonwealth’s workforce. youtu.be/7N68nztzl9g
I was honored to offer the morning prayer today in the #PaHouse as we began another day doing the #PeoplesWork.
Dealing with the possibility of breast cancer is bad enough. No one should have to worry about cost if they need further diagnostic exams. I’m so proud that #PAHouse passed my legislation in a bipartisan fashion that would require health insurance to cover such exams at no cost to patients.
Without the Pennsylvania CDFI Network many of the small & micro-businesses in Delco wouldn’t exist. The more we invest in these institutions the greater opportunity for our communities to grow & experience the #AmericanDream.
Today is Black Doula Day in PA! I was proud to speak on the House floor designating April 11, 2025 as Black Doula Day. This day honors the critical role Black doulas play in improving maternal health outcomes, especially in communities facing the greatest healthcare challenges. youtu.be/lQRKXHzleBw
It’s an economic necessity that we invest in our childcare system because the livelihoods of families across the state are at stake. Families are struggling to find reliable care and businesses are losing employees by the day. These improved investments are critical! youtu.be/vkqD5HrEsMA
An estimated 48.6 million Americans are bullied at their workplace. We need to put a stop to this type of abuse because it can have lasting impacts on the victim for years to come. youtu.be/GfBOGLCY3YA
This week I questioned the Pennsylvania Department of State on what they are doing to help advise health care professionals in their licensing to address health inequity across the state and what they are doing to keep track of scammers posing as charities. youtu.be/JorBQPv-Iy8
