The church I grew up in rented space from an Adventist church on Sundays. This meant I grew up surrounded by literature about pacifists & dissenters. 18th & 19th century Quakers were astonishing & inspiring in their courage. (alt-text is incomplete)

I don't spend much time on FB anymore because it shows me less & less of what I want to see-- my friends-- and more & more dreck. I was willing to put up with some crap to get to my friends' stuff, but when I scroll & only see ads, it's not worth it to me.

I'll still never forget listening to 2 *elementary* school aged girls share strategies for dealing with being sexually harassed when they played Minecraft. Elementary school.

No one's showing up for a birthday party with that little notice.

I did. And my state Senator is on the Labor Committee, so maybe she'll be able to do something?

The Kid just wants to start a job when he's told he's supposed to start, not suddenly get told at the last minute that he can't work for an unknown period of time because somebody else forgot to fill out a form.

The Friday before, UWMC told him he wasn't allowed to show up to start the internship until they's completed an accommodation form.

We waited over 2 months & finally had to point out that he was the only disabled student who'd been prevented from starting the internship,

We ran into a similar problem last calendar year. Kid took a phlebotomy certification course with a required internship. He was supposed to start the internship at UW Medical Center on a Monday.

...then that's creating a burden on the disabled employee that other employees aren't subject to.

I've written my state legislators. I wonder if Rep. Shaun Scott would be interested in hearing about this too, since he's on the Labor Committee.

If someone without a disability can start as normal, and someone with a disability is prevented from starting work for an extra period of time because you require an additional form-- which you as the employer are responsible for completing--

Kid has once again had his job start date delayed because someone in HR decided at the last minute that there's accommodation paperwork that has to get filled out.

This feels like discrimination to me.

Designing for Web Accessibility – Tips for Getting Started Summary

Don't use color alone to convey information. Marking required fields by only using colored labels won't help people who use screen readers or who can't distinguish colors. If using color, also add text like asterisks and/or "required."

Hokas are the most comfortable shows for me to wear with me foot issues. I can afford to buy 1 pair (almost $300) a year. Jesus Christ, Hoka! I do *not* need daily emails about your merchandise!

Watching Grabbers. What was the point of the whole romance subplot? Did the studio suits demand it? It's ruining an otherwise fantastic monster movie for me.

In the same neighborhood, I take the 36 a lot because I never have to wait more than 10 minutes for a bus. I drive instead of taking the 50 to Seward Park because waiting 30 minutes at a bus stop with no bench isn't fun. Hooray for increased service!

This is a great point.

Cities will spend years telling you they can't use k-rail to keep bicyclists safe, and then they'll quietly deploy a quarter mile of it to disperse a homeless encampment.

Exposing racist extremists isn't fraud. It's what people give SPLC money to do.

I'm having flashbacks to the Pierce County Assessor debacle from a while back. Recall petition, restraining orders from other county execs, Council ban on the county attorney providing legal representation against the multiple employee lawsuits against him.
What's wrong with assessors?!

I ran across this watching a Disney movie in Spanish & had to turn off the Spanish subtitles because they were *so* different from the Spanish language track.

I know from Kid that studios use different companies for captions & subtitles. Captions are supposed to reflect spoken dialogue. Translated subtitles are created from the original script, which may not match with the final spoken version.

Spouse found a recipe for a completely homemade carrot cake that he started making for Kid's birthday & it's so good! I'd only ever had grocery store bakery carrot cake & didn't know it could taste like that!
