To them, I am grateful and honored that our paths crossed over the past 36 years of work in schools. Enjoy your Sunday!

The message I took from this graphic was that bad times are temporary and that there is more good in the world than bad. That has been my experience in education and I am fortunate to have been surrounded by so many leaders who have brought courage and good to the field than bad.
For this Sunday, I have found a graphic segment from someone I cannot remember who posted it online from J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy. Sam Gamgee is speaking to Frodo Baggins somewhere along their path together in the epic story.
I had a leader who believed in me and sent me to the Center for Creative Leadership for some 360 degree feedback. Since then, I have continued to learn from their examples, including the graphic I have posted today. Keep these tenets in mind when supporting your leaders. Enjoy your Sunday!
Here's a quote from William Arthur Ward brought to you by Humanex. The reason I chose to share this graphic this Sunday is the way the quote is framed in the picture. Everything outside the circle is out of focus. The message inside the circle is clear. Thank you Humanex for the message!
I found this quote in an antique store several years ago & the message is so relevant to me. The best leaders I have had the pleasure of meeting & knowing share their gifts w/others at every opportunity. Who do you know that shared something w/you that helped set the course of your life's journey?
Today is purple day to support children and families that suffer from epilepsy. The students at Pioneer Preschool in West Chicago made me a purple ribbon to wear today and, as a way to say thank you, I choose to honor Jailyne, one of the students in my daughter’s classroom who has epilepsy.
Here's a graphic I found years ago from Edutopia that I love to re-read to remind me that while the adult staff is entering the "blahs" of spring, so are our students. Pick any of these recommendations from Edutopia and turn it around for a child in your school district this week.

I found this graphic from Amy Gibson which is a great tool for leaders seeking ongoing improvement within their organizations and themselves. I am passionate about creating a workplace that generates quality results while reinforcing the achievements of the people I lead and serve. How about you?
Do yourself a favor. An activity I learned from Joe Sanfillippo and Jimmy Casas involves scrolling your text message feed and find someone you haven't heard from in a while. Send them the text that you are thinking of them in that moment. You have now made someone's day by caring about them.
This Sunday, I have found an older post from my friends at Humanex as part of their Daily Impact Journey. Outside of the person quoted, the message is timeless and important to us all.
Today's material comes from the Center for Creative Leadership. This graphic, copied years ago, addresses the stress that comes with leadership and the importance of managing it while taking care of yourself at the same time. Have a great Sunday!
I found this graphic from 4 o clock Faculty from a social media post from years ago. There is so much we can learn from organizations like Pixar, and I introduced the book, Creativity, Inc. which describes the process Pixar uses to create their highly successful movies. Enjoy!
Just got back from the National Conference of Education led by the AASA and found this image from Jimmy Casas that I identified with the minute I read it over. The 5 "W's" of Leadership are applicable today as they were when I first read them. Have a great Sunday!
Many friends of mine and I are preparing for the final stretch of the only career we have known. I found this quote from Humanex in their Daily Impact Journey very recently and it stuck with me. Enjoy your Sunday!
I found this in my photo library and it seems oddly appropriate for a Sunday post. I wish I could remember where I found it. I really like the reference to creating opportunities, for when that is done within your team or organization, the possibilities of learning something new are heightened.
This is another Sketchnote from Tanmay Vora from information found in an article from the Harvard Business Review authored by Jack Zenger and Joseph Folkman. I believe listening is the first step toward building a solid relationship and a productive organizational culture. Have a great day!
Improving fluency with foundational math skills doesn’t mean endless hours of drilling. Quick but frequent bursts of practice are actually more effective, research shows. ✖️📊➗

The best of us know that we are only as good as the teams we work with. How do we fuel the tanks of those we work alongside? Justin Wright posted this graphic years ago that captures phrases that really work to accomplish this purpose. Have a great day!
For this Sunday, I am still in awe of what the Chicago Bears accomplished last night. It did get me thinking about how easy parallels can be made in education. Coach Johnson is a leader, not a boss. That's the connection between the attached graphic in my photo bin and now.
I found this Sketchnote from Tanmay Vora from a few years ago based on a Duke University study on happiness. As I work on being better, these 8 factors help remind me of the work ahead and the value received in return to both myself and others with whom I surround myself.
As we get ready for a new calendar year, many set goals or "resolutions" in the moment that may or may not be fulfilled. I have attached a graphic from my accumulated pictures called "The Pledge". Hope this provokes thought to action. Happy Sunday!
It's Sunday, so it's time to find something I have kept in order to share. This is a quote from Buddha that contains wisdom that is best shared now. I found this quote framed and presented in an antique mall. Have a wonderful holiday!
Each Sunday, I go through my accumulated photos and revisit some of the images and messages I have gathered over the years. Today, I found this quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson that is as good today as it was on the date it was published. Enjoy the rest of your well-earned weekend!
I am surprised and yet, not surprised at the lack of understanding of the importance of Miles Davis upon American and world culture. I found the attached note in my archives and feel that anyone can benefit from this perspective. Enjoy!
We all benefit from good coaching. Here is something I found a couple years ago that still resonates well today. Coach Wooden was more than a basketball coach and his wisdom is still worth sharing. Enjoy!
Please make sure to take some time for yourself, even if it is just a few minutes. You each make such a difference to others; why shouldn’t you do the same for yourselves?

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and you may not realize that some of the people around you right now are silently in crisis. It’s ok to not be ok. Please know that there are people that care and others ready to listen when you need them.
