I’m sorry but when you are the “Head of Politics” at a $22 billion company you have no right to be complaining about special interests in government

That's home. That's us.

That's home. That's us.

This image of home just came down from the Artemis II crew.

Taken after their translunar injection burn, there are aurorae at top right and lower left, and zodiacal light at lower right.

Alternatively, you could argue whether riding a horse counts as "operating" it.

"Horse drives itself. I'm just a passenger."

Sci-fi movie UIs tend to be utterly impractical, but if the story is that AIs are doing all the actual computer things, and the humans are just "CLAUDE I DEMAND MORE PEW PEW" then yeah? I guess?

Wang makes her best point, which was made in one of the briefs: Babies of Japanese citizens born while their parents were INTERRED during world war 2 were [wait for it] US citizens.

That history ALONE should be dispositive.

Amy Coney Barret asks an extremely relevant question. Sauer/Trump's point is that birthright citizenship only counts for parents who have *allegiance* to the US.
ACB points out that CAPTURED SLAVES.. had no "allegiance" to the US, and arguably wanted to escape. But their childrens were citizens.

So ... lawsuits over LLMs that talk people into harming themselves: is this now subject to strict scrutiny? Or is "don't talk people into hurting themselves" still considered viewpoint neutral?

School/workday mornings are pretty frantic. We often forget things: water bottles, backpacks, sunscreen, allergy meds, etc. So now I have a checklist of all the things.

It works great when I remember to check the checklist.

What happened? Why did you incorrectly assume no CHANGELOG existed?

The Glob search for **/CHANGELOG* returned a huge number of results from node_modules/ and truncated before reaching the project root. I saw no project-level match in the truncated output and incorrectly concluded the file didn't exist.

I should have either: Used a more targeted glob like CHANGELOG* (without **/) Run git ls-files CHANGELOG.md to check if it's tracked Followed the lesson already in my memory file, which warns about exactly this scenario

The irony is that my MEMORY. md already had this exact lesson reco rded. I didn't follow my own notes.

You might appreciate this particular MEMORY.md failure.

In Kyrgyzstan, over 90% of the land is covered by mountains. Climate change is causing permafrost to melt and creating dangerous new glacial lakes. Traditional monitoring meant scientists manually checking sensors and sharing data days later. 1/6

A Texas school district has banned HOW LONG TIL BLACK FUTURE MONTH, along with over 1500 other books. Mine was kicked bc it's labeled for adults, which is true. But so are every one of my books, which are available in most schools.

That's the only one with "Black" in the title, tho.

WarGear - Risk Everything Risk Everything

wargear.net: async Risk with lots of custom maps and rule variations. Not the best game for 1:1 but if you have some friends willing to join in, it's fun. I used to have like a half dozen games going simultaneously over the span of several weeks.

Doesn't solve all the problems with octogenarians but it addresses the very specific one of "person dies and now your party doesn't have the votes".

Also, I think you'd get some competitive elections for the spare! Younger folks can run without worrying about stepping on mentors, etc.

What if you could vote for a designated alternative if the actual elected official is unable to complete their term? Remove some of the variables around the governor and special elections. Maybe an amendment required but maybe states can hack it.

The thing that gets me is that there's AI video content coming out of China and some of it is good? Or at least meme-worthy (laudatory)?

I'm sort of curious why nothing from Sora or Veo has really clicked the same way.

Honestly, I kinda liked law school. Arguing with people about the Constitution is fun if you can get past the rat race aspect of it all.

Being a lawyer sucked though.

"I would like to argue with people about the Constitution."
"Best I can do is patent litigation."

A "New reminder" modal with "Check for laundry gnomes..." as placehodler text. The interface shows a timer for 30m from now with the time (4:02 PM) visible in large inputs. There is a non-linear slider with 1m / 15m / 1h / 6h / 24h spaced evenly apart.

Futzin' with a little reminder / alarm clock UI with a non-linear slider. One of those things that feels conceptually nice but not sure yet if the extra confusion over a simple linear slider is worth it. #buildInPublic
