Been working 6 am to 2:30 pm this week, and boy, is it hard! Getting up at 5:10 am is horrible. At least when my hours do change to this for the summer, I'll adjust, just doing it for one week, because there is an event on at the resort, is painful.

Happy birthday, Pippa!! ๐พ
Already put almost 100k on my new trail shoes. That's cool. ๐ฒ๐โโ๏ธ๐
It would appear that I have completely assimilated into this life. My two favourite songs right now are Choosin' Texas by Ella Langley and Dry Spell by Kacey Musgraves.
911 it's officially a cry for help. ๐
I do love it! But I don't love snow in April! Ugh
Itโs snowing. Itโs a roof covered in snow. The street is still bare but itโs starting to stick on the trees across the street.
LOL get fucked. Itโs the middle of April.
Elevation chart and part of a very basic map. There are kilometer paces of the left.
Gotta love how they just toss parts of the grouse grind in your average every day run here. You simply cannot run here without running hills; it is not possible. I hate it so much lol.
Itโs May 30th. I started training for the 25k a few months ago but between my back and spending eight hours a day on my feet I just couldnโt be ready for it! ๐ฉSo the 10k it is!
Just registered for my first race here in Radium. Not the distance I had originally planned, but at least I am racing here. I had been saying I was done racing! Anyway, it's a 10k trail race up where I cross-country ski. I wanted to do the 25k, but just didn't end up able to train for it properly.
That's hilarious. I love that!
LOL OMG the new Alexa voice says "you're welcome" without having to prompt it and say "Alexa, thank you". I always thank her for setting timers and such for me. ๐
Sometimes it is actually Strava that makes me feel the most homesick. Seeing all of my favourite routes that I can't run is really hard. I miss the ocean. Plus, I spent a lot of time with friends on the seawall in general.
Friends! A tiny pub called The Horsetheif in Radium Hot Springs has fried pickles. All is right with the world in this small moment. I didn't think I'd find them in the middle of nowhere.
That isn't so bad then. But I still hope Alberta has the second referendum sooner rather than later and votes to change as well.
Because I am on Mountain time, I do not get to revel in the joy of not having to change the clocks again. I fact, it sucks so hard now, half the year I'll be two hours ahead of my friends in BC.
Cross country skiing in black pants and a blue jacket. One pole in front one behind with black gloves. I'm wearing a green toque and green sunglasses. Also wearing a smile.
Getting my cross-country on. Didn't make it far today, it was super icy, but still got this cool action shot.
Finally did my first solo drive today. I went to the Transfer Station and back. I have been putting off going out in the SUV by myself. I am used to a much smaller vehicle. I drive here regularly, I just do it with my dad as a passenger or both of them in there.
Had a bit of a tough conversation today with my dad about how my mom is showing signs of losing her memory. And he needs to be more patient with her. It isnโt all cross-country skiing and games living here. Thereโs a lot of aging-parents stuff I have to deal with, too.
Things have gone better than expected. I still get pretty homesick, but I do love it here.
Scenery of snow covered trees and mountains in the distance. The sun is just behind a dash of clouds.
The mountains were calling this morning, and we finally got out for a cross-country ski! We went over a month and a half with no snow! I finally got to try my new cross-country ski gear today and it was awesome. It's so beautiful living here! ๐
By the way, it was -18 this morning when I walked to work at 6:50. It's up to -5 now, which feels warm. I just smoked a bowl outside in only a base layer and a sweater.
This is the second time in my life that I have lived in a place so small that the whole village (town) has the same postal code.
Radium Hot Springs is a village, and Smithers is a town.
Did some burpees yesterday. Forgot they suck and are actually a bit hard at this age. Iโll start with 5-10 a day. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
They hit me up to run the kids program for Family Day at work and I was so nervous to do it and I had to work directly with the owners. But it went really well! The kids had a great time!
I just showed my dad what a burpee is and he was like OK Iโll just suffer then lol.
Well this sucks! But I have a spot up stairs I could do some. Thanks for the advice!
I used the counter to get up and down. Ugh.
Iโm relatively fit, and Iโve still hit an age at almost 49 where I find it hard to get up on and off the floor sometimes.
Haha, yes, that has diminished substantially!
Completed my 90 days at work. Got a $1.50 an hour raise. And I'll take it. Still an adjustment making so little here, but I get that I am starting over completely.
