How Wall Street Turned Its Back on Climate Change

I published This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs. the Climate in 2014. Lots of serious people explained that we didn't have time to tackle capitalism, climate was too important. Let the market fix it for us.

The track record is 12 wasted years and a world on fire. www.nytimes.com/2026/01/17/c...

Global soil moisture in 'permanent' decline due to climate change - Carbon Brief A new study warns that global declines in soil moisture over the 21st century could mark a “permanent” shift in the world’s water cycle.

Top soil loss follows prolonged drought. Growing food is becoming more challenging.

Nice Americans, a plea:

There are many of you here. Hello.

Please stop imagining the benefits of Canada being consumed by America.

Instead advocate against this horrific notion.

Wasting time imagining it happen is time you can better spend fighting against it.

Best,
Paul, a Canadian

Arundhati Roy called the pandemic “a portal” thru which we’d emerge one kind of society or another: one w/ a broad safety net & an ethic of care & public health OR one that 👀 all life as disposable for capital accumulation.

Food supplies are impacted by H5N1. Chickens, ducks, turkeys and geese are being culled. ⬇️ eggs & meat are available. Sick & dead 🐄 cows means ⬇️ milk and cheese supplies. Prices are 📈 and will continue to rise.

Fun fact: 🇨🇦 needs 700k eggs/day to make 1M+ of various vaccine doses annually.

a cartoon with two panels

panel one is a stick figure saying "oh! a fossil fuel!!" standing above a crudely drawn black lump under a brown ground

Panel two is them walking away and saying "I'll just leave it there"

The head of the person is not a drawn circle but the letter O, because the random software I used to draw it did that for unexplained reasons

My new study (N=913) finds 30 identity factors as basis for discrimination against women leaders. Women leaders are “never quite right” as almost any facet of their identity can be declared problematic for a specific woman in a specific context.
