i completely agree. i liked pieces of you at the time, but jewel kind of lost me after that. intuition was a fun single. otherwise, her music and her persona feels inauthentic and has for a long time, which is so sad.

this is just my own opinion, so please no one come for me, but i really don't think jewel has the depth for anything NR tbh. and her maga support is a no-go for me as well.
yes yes and yes!! 😌
i don't even think all women understand that that's what's being communicated. internalized misogyny is a helluva drug.
right?!? they just don't know what integrity looks like tbh. integrity is honoring your skills & abilities where they are now & not giving up altogether, but instead making it work to create art and connect, even if it's "imperfect."
she is holding up a mirror. we are all aging. we are all changing. will we change together and accept each other, or is this the world we want to live in, where we claim to love women but we let the patriarchy decide when it's their time to hang it up, that they no longer have value?
this will probably never happen, because people are people, but it would make things a lot easier for me & other fans if we didn't have to hear this nonsense from people who have clearly ignored the actual themes in her work from the last 3 decades.
like, if someone as talented & creative as T is being told to hang it up now, what hope do i have at 49? that's what this is communicating to women, whether they realize it or not.
i need some folks to come to a place of acceptance that they are *former* fans & just let us enjoy her work.
no smacks, all hugs! 🤗
the implication that she's should stop recording & touring is just really painful to read over & over, even if it's couched in "i love her, but." she's never going to make another pele or scarlet, and she wouldn't even if she was still singing like it's 96 or 98.
i also don't want to host people's criticisms or complaints or observations about T's voice, body, clothing, wigs, etc on my accounts tbh. i don't want to host it or referee it. i don't want to hear about how she hasn't made a good record since pele or scarlet. like, take that shit to reddit. 🤣
thank YOU for speaking up as well. across platforms, i've seen everything from mild criticism of the change in her voice to "she's bonkers." it is so obviously rooted in misogyny. i don't understand why so many people struggle with meeting an artist where they are.
"Gasoline Girls is a metaphor for many different transformations - from a teenage girl becoming a woman, to shifts in gender identity or fundamental belief systems, to the life changes that come with pregnancy, motherhood and eventually menopause."
it's really adding up here, woj! 😉
look, these thoughts have to go somewhere and i'm trying to keep them
off main. 🤣
if this doesn't apply, let it fly, k? 😉
i very very much relate with this. 😞
who are you?
(i added the dash for emphasis. it's really "MSLIS.")
and sometimes, like in my case, your library science degree is an MS-LIS 😉
💀🤣
omg yay!! congrats!! ✨🩷
the implication of all these swings in NR imagery 🤭 they truly are a giant polycule.
also, please tell me i'm not the only one who considered this. 🤣
Interesting that “The Swing” is a painting about a woman’s sexual agency and subversion of patriarchal ideals and “Ophelia” is a painting about a woman’s lack of agency under the patriarchy.
have a seat while i take to the sky
moar swings!
and tori has built her career on challenging the patriarchy for sure. i'd love to know if more of the NRs are tori fans. we know taylor liked a sorta fairytale enough to cover it.
i would consider her one, but i know other fans might not? i love finding the overlap in tori and taylor's work. tbh i'm far more familiar with tori's work than all of taylor's discog. 🤭
