Great review of a fantastic book! Recht’s intellectual history and deep humanism are vital interventions in the contemporary AI discourse.

I’ve been teaching for 20 years. My first year I would come to school early to photocopy transparencies to use in my classroom overhead projector. Today I came in early for last minute red-teaming of a custom study Gem before shipping it to my students.
Ever true
@thevogelman.bsky.social what a lovely piece with some great reflective practice for teachers and students!
This piece from substack.com/@thevogelman... on @janerosenzweig.bsky.social Substack is a valuable and important read for teachers looking to help students make sense of AI in their writing practice.

Not all great players but need to be accounted for. Eze too
Doku and Kudus for sure. Saka, Ndiaye, Semenyo, Joao Pedro, Cunha, Sarr, Gordon, Van de Ven on the break all get defenders on their heels. Haaland obviously too and some of the other strikers whose movement pulls defenses this way and that (Mateta)
These 2 stellar pieces from @techpolicypress.bsky.social are essential for educators thinking through the profoundly new internet our students are experiencing.

Adding this too… on the one hand, this blurriness has always been undertheorized in understanding technology’s role in learning, but on the other, the ways these features are being rolled out is already an epistemic and pedagogical challenge that will only grow more difficult this coming school year
I teach 8th grade history and help lead our AI efforts. This is *the* question schools need to be obsessively focused on… students are using it a ton, and even if they’re not, its existence in the information landscape they inhabit is changing how they think and learn. All else is downstream…
Might I suggest “Thiel-manning” for the affected rhetorical tactics you described in the pod?
There is an amazing montage of these scenes on YouTube I’ve used in AI presentations.

This piece would also be beneficial to educators trying to help students by modeling more responsible use of AI tools in our own work
