but why you're suddenly getting cat memes isn’t always obvious.

often, it's due to it's recommender systems.

in our new MEAP, hidden influences, @lucab.phd shares his take from working with 'em at Twitter.

* I am very grateful to have attended and had a lot of interesting chats and connections
* evals are top of mind for everyone, and so is mental health
* the location was great: not only the weather was nice but being able to walk in a real city with real things makes such a huge difference

* it’s always surprising to spot famous names randomly in the halls, or, in my case the same elevator!!
* the real value is on the side events and connecting with the people

Heading back from NeurIPS after a very intense week. Some personal thoughts:

* the conference is huge, with 29k attendees total (including virtual). It’s very overwhelming especially if you have fomo
* at the same time it’s also very humbling to be surrounded by so many great minds

Drawing on my own experience in auditing Twitter's systems (from the inside), I explore the crucial role business leaders can play in navigating these emerging challenges.

Audits are going to be a more critical business practice, especially given the increasing regulatory requirements. However they are not a straightforward and linear process, rather a web of different decisions. By their nature, they don't only bring technical challenges, but organizational ones.
