It is like the remote control in Click (2006, with Adam Sandler). Everything we do has a consequence and even things that work well at some point are not granted to work this way forever.
Having a "productive" conversation w/ something that doesn't think and will confirm your biases can't be good.

I'm not a particularly clever individual, there are decisions I make based on my own observations or call it instinct.
The very idea of using/relying on genAI at all, let alone talk to it, activates some innate instinct. It seems fundamentally wrong, like it threatens my very existence.
It is also a life anti pattern, not unlike how cancer cells multiplicate in organisms.
Ele passou só um ano em São Paulo e valorizou desde jeito. Imagine se tivesse passado mais tempo? 🤣🤣🤣
Always great to learn about new elegant gamedev solutions
I have to say, of all the clever things I have done in making this game, the most useful has possibly been having it take screenshots every time an action occurs for when I go back to debug an issue.
It is so nice having a chain of screenshots to look at in addition to the stack trace and logs.
True, that's why I said your measure is clever as well, honestly, as it meets your needs with minimal effort.
There's no need to confirm, but I imagine at the heart of your solution you do a simple "image.save(screen, filepath)", and the rest is some housekeeping.
A truly elegant solution.
On top of all that, all it does is store the button presses/releases/state in real time in collections (mostly references to existing objects, so the memory footprint is minimal).
Then when the player gets defeated or clears the level/mission, you minify the data and compress it in a zip file.
Just wanted to share this idea so you can keep it in mind.
As I said it is not that difficult and of course once you have it, you can use it in your games effortlessly, regardless of their complexity.
Fair. It is also clever to pick simpler solutions that better fits your game than spend extra time, even if it was not that much time, to pursue a more complex feature that may be overkill for your needs.
By doing that, you'll be able to watch the entire play unfold in front of you and if you wrap specific actions with decorators that track usage when the game is launched with a specific flag, you get statistics of the play session. You can even fast-forward to specific times by manipulating the fps.
Hello, fellow pygame-ce user here.
That is indeed a clever idea not only for its usefulness, but also because I imagine it took almost no time implement.
The next evolution of that idea is to log the button presses/releases/state. I did that and it was honestly way easier than I thought.
Much love was put in the alt text. You can feel the passion!
Muito bom! Parabéns!
Mandou bem até na cinematografia da primeira cena: a composição do personagem envolto pelo contorno da janela.
Is there even a limit to how much fun once can have looking at charming low poly models? Of course more is always better!
Tenho ouvido que a Wikipédia é o novo Google. Não uso tanto assim, mas sou grato, me parece uma boa fonte de informação, um serviço que não "enshitificou".
Yeah, but why shove the thing so far in your throat?! 🤣
This is the bite people were expecting from McDonald's CEO 🤣
Movies have this issue too, both with sound and brightness levels (e.g.: poorly lit scenes that rather than giving a dark vibe actually prevent one from seeing what is happening or waste all the action happening).
AI is just an expensive and unreliable middleman.
If it stays below human level of intelligence, like now, its output requires reviews and maintenance.
Paradoxically, if it reaches human level (which, mathematically speaking, I don't think it will ever do), you are not needed anymore.
Gorgeous art and animation.
Yes! So many wonderful projects are born from people finding creative ways to deal with limitations. There is even the possibility that the results end up better than they'd be in the absence of that limitation.

Gorgeous art! That's also how Hancock sees Luffy.
