I was a fan of hers from the beginning, and I very much respect her as an artist. But after reading her memoir about her past and her cult-like mother, she seems to have gone down that path herself. She seems to always talk about mental health in science-y woo terms that make little sense to me.

I’m already seeing people pull resources together. We have the internet and more information than we’ve ever had. I think the queer elders have more responsibility here since we’ve been down this road. Whether the youth want to listen to us is up to them.

It feels very much like we’re going back to the 80s and 90s when we were basically on our own. We had to learn to take care of ourselves and each other.

I have friends who are literally like “La di da… here’s a pic of my cat.”

Are we living the same life? Mine moved away and he was also great and put up with all my silliness. Stop moving away, trainers!

Getting a trainer helped me. I didn’t get fit af but I feel a lot more confident and I’m stronger, which in the end was actually the goal.

There wasn't a single unit of queer or trans history taught to me in school. I had to learn it all on my own. The good, bad, ugly, and awful. We are the storytellers in this world. We are the keepers of stories, and ones who push the stories into the future. They cannot erase that.

It took me so long to realize this as a young gay, and we had social media but no smartphones. I can’t event imagine what it’s like for them now. I see so many of them as more confident than I could ever be, and yet just as easily manipulated.

It is unseasonably warm in SoCal today. Obviously worrisome with the ongoing fires, but in my little enclave it felt like spring. And I took in a few rays of warm air to simply exist in a small California town.

I know the feeling very well. At some point though the piles of stuff we own start to own us.

I’m a collector. My mindset now is let that stuff bring someone else some joy.
