yes, I feel the difference between words and meaning on the input side too. it’s not a gap for me exactly, more like language is pixelated and meaning is smooth, so the translation involves some hallucination.
wow, wild. that must’ve been so frustrating! I don’t have an internal monologue generally, but I find (what feels like) the language serialization / quantization layer of my brain to be pretty effortless, although a little lossy.
so long as language comprehension areas are undamaged, people who lose the ability to produce language still do well on reasoning tests!
