Exeter City Council is currently unaccountable to the public having cancelled democracy. The public should have a say in key decisions which affect them (such as cancelling elections!). This petition calls for strengthening local democracy, not weakening it:

Cancelling elections for personal gain is corrupt, not to mention that it denies 140,000 people democracy.

The Council and Government have decided to cancel local elections in our city.

This is an affront to democracy, and with public trust in politicians at an all time low, removing opportunities for democratic participation risks further disengaging people. (2/3)

Great to see coverage of @exeterassembly.bsky.social's Cool Hub initiative yesterday, providing water and a place to cool down in Exeter city centre.

This initiative serves as a key example of the need for community adaptation in response to the climate crisis.
