So this cat learned consent, from a non cat person, who accidentally became a cat person.

Apparently every cat I've met likes my system, put out hand, let them sniff and come to you, only pet when they put their head in your hand, works every single time.

She prefers to snuggle me, will only let my wife snuggle her when I'm around, demands my attention.

When I used to play hitman3 in my basement she would ninja her way into my lap on my chair without me noticing, I'd just play away.

Here's the thing, both cats are really my wife's cats, she cleans up after them, feeds them, does all the parent stuff. I'm supposed to be "spare human", sure I'm daddy to supra because I brought her home, but now I'm daddy to obsie.

Over time she started to understand I would only touch her or pick her up if it was an emergency like a vet visit or getting her out from between the floorboards, all other times the rule was followed.

She started pawing my hand down, at first with claws, and later without claws.

Initially she'd bite and scratch when she was done pets.

I started teaching her consent. She she was done or when she expressed she didn't want them i put both my hands palm down and slowly blinked and used soft words like it's ok, I won't touch you in a soothing voice.

I screwed up and let her out if the carrier early and supra and obsie did not get along. They sort of do now but they are more rivals than friends.

She was spicy, like really spicy, but loved lap pets.

Her month in confinement she got lap snuggles like 4-5 times a day for an hour.

Story time

I adopted a black cat years ago, her name is Obsidian. She was in the shelter for a year and returned twice, she was 3. We got her as a play companion for supra about 9 years ago.

She didn't like other cats so she got her own space for a month.

I spend too much time on the hell site
