The Upper Harbor park in Mpls has this same potential hazard… something that looks fun to climb but can be deadly.

Spring is here, so this is going to become a full time Creeping Bellflower hate account.
Kill your hellflowers. Tell your friends.
The High Cost of Free Parking was my poolside reading the summer between my first and second years of grad school. It was the perfect book for the time and had some lol moments.
I spend my Sunday split between cooking meals for my kids, cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping, and doing my moms taxes. Time Poverty is my normal state of being.
REMINDER: ICE is still quite active in Minneapolis. They’re just not blasting it on the news.
From a friend on the ground in Minneapolis:
“It’s difficult to cover him in a way that conveys how unhinged he is. Journalists are trained to be like, ‘OK, what did he say that was newsworthy?’ So you convey that to your audience. But in reality, when you actually watch, you see he's full of hatred, lying constantly, and very incoherent.”
I mean, you don't really need a translator
I’m a mom with 3 kids who leave crumbs all over the seats. I haul them and all their stuff around. They will also learn to drive on the next car i get.
I want a RAV4 hybrid!
You don’t have to be a Jeopardy champ to know that a lot more housing, and in particular affordable housing, needs to be build. But it doesn’t hurt to be a Jeopardy champ.
Our public schools were the epicenter of ICE’s occupation of our city. Now we must renew our commitment to our students by investing in them!
But our Mayor is more focused on lobbying the State for money for a cop rec center. Why can’t Frey lobby the state for MPS?

Love the Lake Loop concept here. And I've been saying it for 20 years, but what this city needs is a Euro-style playground where parents could sit in a nearby cafe with a coffee or a beer so they can chat while their kids play.
oh my god maybe it really is the phones
Post on Twitter from 2013 by Brent Toderian. Text says “What’s beyond NIMBY? I’m heartened by YIMBY (yes in my backyard) in laneway housing, and I think we need more QIMBY (quality in my backyard).
12. So I’ll keep calling for more badly needed density, more change, but always #DensityDoneWell. Listening/learning, smart design, multi-modal, with livable amenities.
Let’s keep talking about #NIMBY & #YIMBY. But let’s DEFINITELY not leave out my favourite, QUALITY IN MY BACKYARD #QIMBY.
Thanks.

In Los Angeles, it is easier to stop housing than to build it. That has to change. We must create a culture of yes to new housing: affordable housing, market-rate housing, social housing, and shelters.
You can see the full plan on my website.
Here are some highlights:
12.7M acres of solar is is about 82% of the solar required to decarbonize the US in the Net Zero America E+ scenario (there's wind and existing nuclear and stuff in there too, but that's the solar portion).
Or we can have 5% of our gasoline displaced.
It’s day 113 of the ICE occupation of MN.
ICE activity has been lower, but the needs of our community in recovery are incredibly high.
Families are job hunting, learning to live without an abducted bread winner, and trying to find their feet.
Please give as you can at StandWithMinnesota.com
Man, the effects of the ICE occupation are vast and ongoing. A family I am helping, like so many others, is trying to figure out how to rebuild their lives. Trying to make rent, needing to find work, adjusting to an existence without family members. There may be less ICE but these are huge wounds.
Enough with the FALSE CHOICE between increasing infill density or increasing the urban tree canopy. BOTH are not only possible, but absolutely necessary. Good design is the key. The real design challenge isn’t building density or the space needed for trees… it’s the space we still surrender to cars.
How can this go on for another 3 years?
In Minneapolis, Minnesota, over 20 armed ICE goons detained a 50-year-old veteran who was in a state of distress at gunpoint.
ICE presence in South Minneapolis has been weirdly heavy the last few days. Chased out an ICE car again today and there were many others. The one I found accidentally revealed himself in hilarious fashion: I’m driving by and his secret police lights come on for a second. Whoops! Confirmed ICE plates
Hello from South Minneapolis.
ICE is still here.
Today they were parked in an alley two block away from my house. A few pedestrians and a commuter stopped by, and confirmed that this was an agent.
Naturally I went for a walk on a spring day. And he drove past, hightailing out of our neighborhood
Set up an MPS specific donor advised fund at the McKnight (or other) foundation to raise more $ beyond what local PTO/PTA efforts can do to get more support staff.
Get the legislature to prorate student funding to the school over the whole year, not just the current fall cut off date. MPS gets students after the funding date who are asked to leave charters.
The school board could use some folks with finance / operations experience who can look at the budget as a whole, reduce the number of buildings, ineffective online contract tutoring & other excess technology use (K-2 don’t all need iPads!) while growing popular programs like Spanish immersion.
A friend with a dyslexic kid left MPS so the kid could learn how to read. Some schools have support staff stretched so thin that kids are getting minutes per week of help when they need hours. Parents can ask for more help but when there’s no more $, no one can be hired…
They is definitely a Kenwood to St Louis Park track now. Who wants to sit on a city bus to North for an hour when SLP is closer? Others go private. Ignoring that most Kenwood district kids had a one seat ride on the #6 bus to Southwest was terrible planning.
