I'm using terminus over tailscale to run claude code on my machine and have included in my skills instructions on taking screenshots and committing them so I can view in github. But now I changed to instructing to use taildrop, I.e 'tailscale file cp img my_phone:' so now I get notified too

Finished reading Project Hail Mary last night. Not as many lols as the Martian, and the over the top idiosyncrasies of the other humans was grating at times, but enjoyed it more none the less. Can't wait to see the film

Woke up this morning to my wife playing Running Up That Hill on full volume. It was an effective way of getting me out of bed.

The ship was built on the orders of the King of Sweden Gustavus Adolphus as part of the military expansion he initiated in a war with Poland-Lithuania (1621–1629). It was constructed at the navy yard in Stockholm under a contract with private entrepreneurs in 1626–1627 and armed primarily with bronze cannons cast in Stockholm specifically for the ship. Richly decorated as a symbol of the king's ambitions for Sweden and himself, upon completion she was one of the most powerfully armed vessels in the world. However, Vasa was dangerously unstable, with too much weight in the upper structure of the hull. Despite this lack of stability, she was ordered to sea and sank only a few minutes after encountering a wind stronger than a breeze.

Oh, I think I've heard this one before! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vasa_(s...

I think I am going to be re-reading that post at least another couple of times to really digest it. But it really is wonderfully articulated, so again, thank you so much for taking what must have been quite some time to write it.

I also think that Google's Learnlm is maybe one of the most underhyped models. I've been using it to learn lambda calculus and it's been super useful for breaking the subject down and making sure I understand each subtopic before moving on to more complex topics. /3

For example, last week I was trying to wrap my head around a gnarly code base. So I recorded a voice memo as I navigated round the code base for an hour or so, then after had an llm create graphviz and mermaidjs diagrams of what I had described. I had to make some tweaks, but the result was great /2

This is such a great post. Thank you! You describe a lot of the areas I have got most value from llms, which has mostly been as a tool for removing friction with deep thinking and learning. /1

This is one of the most succinct and easiest to understand explanations of safety-II that I have read.

@mitchellhashimoto.bsky.social mentioned this in a podcast (I think) some time ago and called it readme based development. Since then I've always used the technique when making something new. It really works well and I code myself into a corner much less often.

Fascinating experiment in how much money people can be made to lose before they can no longer afford the luxury of owning the libs.

I suffered debilitating anxiety attacks at least once a month. And then I got my adhd diagnosis and started meds, after which my anxiety attacks just stopped. I certainly wasn't expecting it, but just that alone is a huge quality of life improvement.

Omg, I love these! Having an apple watch has really helped me. Being able to add reminders with Siri without having to take out my phone removes a lot of that friction of "oh ill do it in a couple of mins"... *narrators voice*...

I like the github code search solution to this. The search box is prefilled with a filter for the context of the current page (org or repo) which you can delete if you do want to search all of GH
