in the last two weeks connected with other Pinays who have EdDs and are Chicago-based. Found one whose work aligns with mine. Let's go social media - maybe I can find more?

led in the parish. They helped create the parol that were used many years ago and some of them are still usable today. That story intertwined with a family event a few weeks ago to make more were shared. We heard about why parol were created to be used in communities in the Philippines to create 2/3
A thread - 1:3 We went to Mass and celebrated the Three Kings in a community that also celebrates Simbang Gabi. The many many parol that were used a few weeks ago were still up and they became part of the narrative. We heard about the history of Filipino American Catholics who have always 1/3
OoHHHH. Hey, Ma - that's me reading Prayers of the Faithful.
Love supporting kiddos in the neighborhood- two teens came by asking to mow our lawn this afternoon. They did great and took great care of our yard.
Loved they came looking for work and delivered!
A pride flag with every color band represented by a NASA image. White is Earth clouds, pink is aurora, blue is the Sun in a specific wavelength, brown is Jupiter clouds, black is the Hubble deep field, red is the top of sprites, orange is a Mars crater, yellow is the surface of Io, green is a lake with algae, blue is Neptune, and purple is the Crab Nebula in a specific wavelength.
I made this Pride flag using only NASA images and our team thought it would be cool to share on social (I work on the NASA heliophysics communications team), but it's getting all sorts of hate on the bird app and Fbook. Thought y'all might be more appreciative of it here. ☺️🏳️🌈💖
Made our ‘end of year’ teacher gift. We need to paint and mount but not bad for a DIY.
Motherhood has taught me that the intention and involvement of a kiddo are the absolute best.
#motherhood
s’mores and evening reflection - I think it’s going to be a thing.
Chicago - you have been insane with Pope Leo memes… keep it up!
Class time Saturday and my kiddo is set up on the iPad doing reading.
I offered video game time and it was passed up for more reading.

About to ‘Art of gathering’ a dinner party for my spouse tomorrow with intentional questions, storytelling, and I hope memory making.
How do you know when a kindergarten plans their parent’s birthday dinner at home? Perhaps it reveals itself as hosting an Easter egg themed day tomorrow for my husband’s birthday.
Attended a talk by Bp. Mark Seitz last night talking about immigration and heard about our call to do more, our solidarity, and heard where he finds hope in it all. The piece about solidarity resonates alongside how much more work we have ahead of us.
Should I start a Task Rabbit? Shelving flex 💪🏽
In preparation for today’s Super Bowl in New Orleans, state police forced over 100 homeless men and women onto buses under threat of arrest, dumping them in an unheated warehouse. Tents destroyed, belongings lost. Press are barred from the warehouse.
The price tag for this cruelty? $17.5 million
Did you catch me talking about solidarity on WBEZ this week? Take a look at the latest from Curious City to hear me share about the Pullman Porters who were Filipino.
Mama hacks during the academic year - no need for a weighted vest while walking with a back pack. Also learning to fit in exercise with walk to the library to get work done. That’s the era I have entered into.
We are having family reading night- on one side of the couch we are reading about TMNT and on the other about St. Ignatius and fundraising. It’s been a long week friends. Stay warm!
UPDATE: Secret Service agents — not ICE — were denied entry at a Chicago school despite initial CPS reports, a CPS source said.
Secret Service agents were looking for an 11-year-old who posted an anti-Trump video, the source said. https://buff.ly/3EatFDz
Lean into your passions just for the fun of it. Go all out for you and your family. Man, and it returns 10 fold every time.
The gift of motherhood is giving the feels to bring a super niche family project into the world to share with others. It’s the Mama Scholar vibes for me.
I have an in-person interview next week with a producer of a radio program to talk about a kids tour I made for my kid during Filipino American History Month. We toured sites on Chicago’s Southside. Now I get to take the ‘show on the radio’ -
I love that show sooooo much.
Love that!
Would love to hear from other mamas who are working full time and grad school students and how they juggle all the plates? Like do you wake up to work out at 5 am before your full time job starts?
I love him! Way to go!
Motherhood has encouraged me to reach out to others for help including asking my neighbors who kept an eye on my kiddo last minute this morning. Grateful for community.
One of the perks of my grad program is having been able to focus on my child’s school for the final project. Shared the project with his principal and the conversation has opened new doors. #mamascholarlife
First post…musings of a middle aged mama and grad student mean the reality check of finishing a final paper then immediately shifting to schedule balancing for the week ahead. Such a juggle that I would not trade for anything.
I do fast walking on mine. I do use it a lot in winter and I do like it very much. Mine is the ToGoGym 3 in 1 if you wanna see on Amazon.
