The full list of candidates standing for election in each ward should be published tomorrow. I've recorded a little message to let you know what my plans are and why, but, most importantly, to thank you for the past four years.

Lots of residents have asked me to stand. I have had to weigh up all my options carefully. Right now, this feels like the best way forward, but... Please know I didn't come to this decision lightly. And, finally, thank you to everyone for your support.
Special announcement! Lots of people have asked what my plans are this election. Over the past months I have given it a lot of thought. Over the past weeks I have worked on the statement below. Follow for updates.
๐ณ๏ธโโง๏ธ Transphobia is rising and transitioning is getting harder. I'm pleased to see the Birmingham Mail has written up my question to Cabinet, asking for support for the trans community in Birmingham and the West Midlands.

At this month's City Council meeting, I raised the issues of transphobia and transitioning. I asked the Leader and Cabinet to meet with the trans community and to write to the government requesting support and funding to establish a gender clinic in Birmingham to serve the West Midlands. ๐ณ๏ธโโง๏ธ
Following the Clean Air Inquiry I chaired earlier this year, I have written to the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, the Rt Hon Ed Miliband MP requesting that we strengthen national clean air targets.

As part of the Clean Air Inquiry I chaired earlier this year, I have written to the Secretary of State for Transport, the Rt Hon Heidi Alexander MP with four key asks to transform Birmingham's public transport:
Omg I read this over Christmas and immediately started telling other people to read it!
Last night, I received the shocking news that my friend and colleague, Councillor Waseem Zaffar, passed away suddenly, aged only 44, leaving behind his wife and young children. He also leaves an incredibly political legacy, but he hadn't even peaked.

Really proud to have delivered this letter from UK100 and Climate Emergency UK to 10 Downing Street today, calling on the UK government to put climate and nature in the English Devolution and Community Empowerment Bill, cosigned with over 500 local leaders, mayors, and councillors.
It's the last Kings Heath Artisan Market before Christmas ๐
Great to chat to volunteers about the campaign to save Kings Heath Community Centre. And so many stalls have incredible local products - including prints of Kings Heath I've got framed.
They're open until 4pm today
At this month's City Council meeting, I asked the Cabinet Member for Children, Young People, and Families what the Council is doing to implement trauma-informed practice after my motion calling for it was passed two years ago.

At the November City Council meeting debate on public transport and the Midland Rail Hub, I spoke about the need for the Bordesley Chords project to allow for more services, cleaner air, and better connectivity in my community and across Birmingham, as well as a train station at Balsall Heath.
I was interviewed while there (end of the video in the article).
The police did a good job of dealing with people who, sadly, were aggressive and directly threatened several people, despite claiming otherwise. They do not represent Stirchley or our city.
www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/midland...
Today, Stirchley residents put on a family event, with music and chalk for kids, to show we can celebrate our city. The community came together to say we will not allow our nations' flags to be used to divide us or intimidate our neighbours.
I'm incredibly proud to be born and raised in Stirchley โค๏ธโ๐ฅ
Rosh Hashanah?
It's a beautiful day on York Road for Kings Heath Artisan Market - don't miss it. Every second Sunday from 10am until 3pm ๐ฉต
Just gonna state for the record that this is appalling, and the tell it's rooted in bigotry rather than women's safety is that it risks preventing trans men - a group assigned female at birth - from accessing using toilets. It's an unworkable bloody mess, and those pushing it should be ashamed.
After meeting with Birmingham City Council and Transport for West Midlands, this is all possible if we prove the demand to bus companies. The best way to do that is to sign the petition.

I have started a campaign for a new bus route that goes right through Kings Heath - from Heartlands Hospital to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Please sign and share this if you agree we need a new bus route. tinyurl.com/HospitalHopper
This week marks the first anniversary of Birmingham City Council declaring a road safety emergency. Thank you to @betterstreetsforbirmingham.org for organising this moment of reflection in memory of the 23 people who have been killed on Birmingham's roads since the declaration.
My heart is broken by the news that Councillor Kerry Jenkins passed away this morning. I can only imagine how devastated her family are, and I'm thinking of them now. She was an irrepressible force of nature who used her time on earth putting everyone else first.
It was a pleasure to speak at the first birthday party for Dawberry Corner.
For years it was a fenced-off waste, full of flytipped rubbish and weeds. Thanks to the tireless work of Suze at @ourscenecic.bsky.social and the community, this space has been transformed into a community garden oasis. ๐
they're flirting
๐ณ๏ธโโง๏ธ๐ณ๏ธโ๐ Queens Heath Pride 2025 ๐ณ๏ธโ๐๐ณ๏ธโโง๏ธ
Every year, for one day, Kings Heath becomes Queens Heath to celebrate the LGBT+ community. Thank you to everyone who gets involved and makes this possible!
Where are they now?
Today the Planning Committee attended a site visit of the Stirchley co-operative development. It was a pleasure to have helped organise this and for the committee to see how we can deliver homes for communities that are led by the community.
Was it though?
Back to season 3 making clothes every other week
Adrian!
