We are concerned about the new legal definition of 'sex' as 'biological' being taken to mean 'binary'; this is anti-scientific. This sets a worrying precedent, is likely to lead to psychological harm, injustice and abuse. We urge the government to revisit this immediately.

The effect that my experiences have had on my own mental health, causing anxiety, isolation and depression is something no one should have to endure. At a time of rising hostility towards LGBTQ+ people, the UK Government has a chance to take a stand and protect our communities from cruelty and abuse.
"The data, which covers reports of physical assault, pseudo-scientific counselling, prayer as a form of healing, ‘corrective rape’, exorcism, community exclusion and more, indicates that these practices remain widespread."
Important research that highlights the importance of a fully-inclusive ban on conversion practices.
"Experiencing conversion practices causes long-term psychological harm to victims - and every day they remain legal places LGBTQ+ people at risk."

Today is Trans Day of Visibility 🏳️⚧️
Trans people are facing renewed attacks on their human rights, including attempts to censor them from public life - now more than ever, we must celebrate them and work towards a better world.

Today, on International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, we highlight the power of solidarity. Not just as an idea, but as a daily practice that sustains, joins forces with, and uplifts racialised LGBTI communities across Europe and Central Asia.

"Hormones play a vital role in the mental health of trans people who need them."
Dr Sari Reisner, the study's co-author, told ABC News.
"Our findings underscore the importance of protecting and upholding the right to accessible healthcare for trans people."
From the study's conclusion:
"Findings support the mental health–promoting role of GAHT (gender-affirming hormone therapy) and contribute to the evidence base that GAHT is a medically necessary treatment that improves mental health outcomes longitudinally for TGD people."
An important new cohort study published by JAMA Network Open finds that gender-affirming hormone therapy was associated with lower rates of depression, "highlighting the importance of gender-affirming primary care models for TGD patients."

21 countries around the world allow trans people to self-ID, choosing autonomy and dignity over what is often a humiliating and distressing process.
The UK has the opportunity to join them, instead of falling further behind.

A graph entitled "United Kingdom - Country Score Evolution." It shows the UK's score steadily decrease year by year between 2015 (86%) and 2024 (51.88%). It is sourced from ILGA's Rainbow Map.
In 2019, the UK was 3rd place on @ilgaeurope.bsky.social's Rainbow Map of LGBTQ+ rights. Now, it has dropped to 15th place.
And that's not just from other countries overtaking - in the last 10 years, the UK's score has plummeted from 86% to 51.88%.
This year's Annual Review from @ilgaeurope.bsky.social is a warning and a call to action.
"The normalisation of anti-LGBTI rhetoric is not just a threat to one community - it is now a proven direct assault on the democratic principles that underpin our societies."
