Students in our MSBI program don't just learn imaging principles in a lecture hall; they work with tabletop MRI units, clinical scanners & wet-lab science. We sat down with program leaders Drs. Youngho Seo & Susan Noworolskito learn more: bit.ly/4ci9tyD

For 15(!) years I’ve been teaching introductory #MRI to grad students, and struggled to find a textbook for a wide variety of backgrounds. I'm happy to share an online textbook I created, fully open source (including code for generating figures and plots shown):

Yes definitely will be some improvement! particularly for diffusion MRI the image should be better quality, and also some more precise measurements of cancerous tissue
This is a great analysis, especially I like the assessment of different variables on performance in detecting aggressive prostate cancer from MRI
important for ML Researchers to see work like this where real world AUCs ~0.7, showing often fundamental challenges in biomedical problems
Advances in 2D materials are enabling atomic-scale resolution in NMR spectroscopy, offering new possibilities for quantum sensing, computing, and communications. doi.org/g9zm6v
Dr. Peder Larson (@pezlarson.bsky.social) will host @ucsfci2.bsky.social's Segmentation Tools Seminar!
🗓 Wednesday, September 24
🕒 3:00 - 4:30 p.m.
📍Genentech Hall Auditorium or Zoom
See you there!
The prostate cancer #MRI field is embracing sharing and leveraging datasets across institutions for training AI models. Preprint of this recently accepted federated learning exploration:

Nice to see my @ucsfimaging.bsky.social colleague highlighted! Prof. Vu has been innovating higher resolution brain #MRI and getting this technology into the hands of VA doctors
Open source #MRI is thriving at #ISMRM2025 - even the standing room was full at educational session today! 🎉

Well the NIH has cancelled the Women's Health Initiative, the largest study of women in history
It has been running continuously since 1991 and has provided massive key knowledge about diseases in women

Happy to walk anyone through this. Our grants are proposed work. We often budget for things like salaries, student tuition, and equipment and consumables (in my field). We work on tight margins - we're often asked to "trim" or modify budgets because program officers try to spread the money.

Two new papers on lung structure and ventilation #MRI with 3D UTE methods, inc patient results
My impressions
- UTE methods (indirect) not as good as HP Xe (direct, but requires inhaled and hyperpolarized gas)
- sequences maturing, processing is critical
- great potential for lung dz evaluation

@brukercorporation.bsky.social - could this award be coupled with sequence sharing support to expand impact of work and accelerate research progress?
I think this #MRI award from @brukercorporation.bsky.social is a really nice way to recognize novel preclinical sequence work! Past winners include hot topics of ZTE/UTE, hyperpolarized, CEST, MRF, deuterium
