Introduction to Principles of MRI — Principles of MRI

For 15(!) years I’ve been teaching introductory #MRI to grad students, and struggled to find a textbook for a wide variety of backgrounds. I'm happy to share an online textbook I created, fully open source (including code for generating figures and plots shown):

Yes definitely will be some improvement! particularly for diffusion MRI the image should be better quality, and also some more precise measurements of cancerous tissue

This is a great analysis, especially I like the assessment of different variables on performance in detecting aggressive prostate cancer from MRI

important for ML Researchers to see work like this where real world AUCs ~0.7, showing often fundamental challenges in biomedical problems

MRI technology inspires quantum advancement with 2D materials The same technology behind MRI images of injury or disease also powers nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, which is used to analyze biological molecules for research on diseases and therapeutics.

Advances in 2D materials are enabling atomic-scale resolution in NMR spectroscopy, offering new possibilities for quantum sensing, computing, and communications. doi.org/g9zm6v

NIH cancels its first and largest study centered on women The Women’s Health Initiative has produced numerous influential findings

Well the NIH has cancelled the Women's Health Initiative, the largest study of women in history

It has been running continuously since 1991 and has provided massive key knowledge about diseases in women

Happy to walk anyone through this. Our grants are proposed work. We often budget for things like salaries, student tuition, and equipment and consumables (in my field). We work on tight margins - we're often asked to "trim" or modify budgets because program officers try to spread the money.

Two new papers on lung structure and ventilation #MRI with 3D UTE methods, inc patient results

My impressions
- UTE methods (indirect) not as good as HP Xe (direct, but requires inhaled and hyperpolarized gas)
- sequences maturing, processing is critical
- great potential for lung dz evaluation
