Okay question for ungulate folks and/or geologists? Why would mineral licks in NE BC be disappearing? #minerallicks #ungulates #biology #geology #mystery

I'm taking part in the Push Up Challenge this month to raise funds for mental health! Especially in the BC interior there is a real lack of access to resources for such services! If you're able we would love your support www.thepushupchallenge.ca/fundraiser/r...

Winter diet of five sympatric ungulates in west-central Alberta, Canada—inference from DNA metabarcoding of fecal pellets Diet is one of the determinants of ungulate ecology. However, there have been few studies of the diet of sympatric ungulates in western Canada. We used DNA metabarcoding of fecal samples to evaluate t...

I mean... i wouldn't mind paying for a medical if it was actually thorough and also of value to me but just listening to breath sounds seems like a rip off?! To do surveillance for a disease Canada is so concerned about it doesn't vaccinate for it... seems silly

Wow. Caroline Kennedy breaks her silence on RFK Jr in a message to Senators: “We grew up together. It’s no surprise that he keeps birds of prey as pets because Bobby himself is a predator. He enjoyed showing off by putting baby chickens & mice in a blender to feed to his hawks.”

Jurisdictional issues re the SARA lead to a lot of passing the buck as to who's responsibility it is, how much action will really be taken until really no action is taken... sad state of affairs for all listed species in Canada

Are any forest ecologists teaching a spatial ecology/spatial analysis/spatial statistics class online in the fall 2025 semester?

You also have to get an xray of your lungs $80 and lab work... not sure how much that costs as i'm still waiting!

The IRCC immigration medical for Canada is $225 and you have to go to a physician who's on a special list... all they do is listen to your breath sounds?! And take your height and weight! That's it! They want to ensure you don't have TB, I'm pretty sure my family doctor of 3 years could do that...

B.C. ostrich farm ordered to kill 400 birds after avian flu outbreak By Feb. 1, the owners of Universal Ostrich Farm are expected to round up 400 of these 135-kilogram birds and kill them — one way or another.

Wildlife health folks... ostriches may not leave the farm but surely this still poses a risk if migratory birds come into contact with the ostriches?

Oooh for all the ungulate folks... if you were to give a talk about factors that drive migration behaviours in elk (stuff like plant phonology, density dependence, snow depth etc) what would be your favourite papers to reference?! #wildlife #elk #ungulatemigration

This should be everyone's teaching philosophy! Equality =/= equity and, in fact, schools dogged obsession with equality instead of equity is what continues to perpetuate disparity

This, coupled with very infrequent range health assessments and even less frequent forage assessments, results in 'management' that is detached from current range condition which is a basic tenet of sustainable range ecology!

Range Practices and Government Enforcement on the Overton-Moody Range Unit - Forest Practices Board Opportunities for government to enhance how it manages and enforces range activities, llowing a complaint investigation about cattle grazing practices near Grand Forks.

Great report from FPB! This is such a common problem with range management in the province! There is very little follow up or enforcement of recommended management actions and compliance is basically a scouts honour system!
