I had the most wonderful time talking talking about Pertenecer at the @stanforddoerr.bsky.social Coffee Convos.
Always great to discuss student-led initiatives and the ongoing work we have done with Pertenecer and Con Ciencia!
Thank you for inviting me back to chat with you all

What can wildfires teach us about biodiversity?
#USask alumni Dr. Aaron Bell shares how the characteristics of wildfires
help promote biodiversity by creating different habitats for a variety of species post-burn.

Sad state of affairs…
Our latest work in @pnas.org shows something surprising: the latest generation of P-enabled vegetation models do not predict a higher CO2 response with P fertilisation

This week our lab went cross country skiing with the prospective graduate students on a warm 70° day ❄️☀️
First time XC Skiing for most of us, and even first time seeing snow for some of the students!
If you want to check out the project we won for, the manuscript can be visited here, where we used Forest Service and NOAA data to model hurricanes and the forest to understand the impact of hurricanes on forest carbon

It was such an honor to share the stage with fellow winners who were all from the EEEES and Environmental Studies program including colleague @balachaudhary.bsky.social
Last week we received an OSCARR (Open Scholarship Commitment Award for Reproducible Research) for our research together with collaborators at @harvardforest.bsky.social on New England hurricanes and forest carbon stocks
Thanks to Jo Ridgeway @dartmouthartsci.bsky.social for giving an amazing lecture @harvardforest.bsky.social on their research on winter climate change and impacts on soil carbon! ❄️🌳
What a beautiful day to explore Harvard Forest during the winter (and only my second time ever using snow shoes!)
Excited to share a new paper written by a AAAS Policy Fellow I mentor, Dr. Lisa Walsh.
“This review synthesizes literature on fieldwork safety across scientific disciplines, highlighting four facets of safety for leaders and researchers to address: physical, social, financial, and psychological.”
What better way to celebrate a lab birthday than a wetland methane inspired cake?
(also, quite shocked that they had this cake in the grab-and-go display case at the grocery store)
New paper out!
Lead by @camilletruong.bsky.social & with @spun.earth #FungiFoundation in Biod Conserv:
“Large-diameter trees disproportionately contribute to soil fungal diversity in a coniferous forest with one of oldest living trees on Earth”.
