The motorcycle industry would have us believe that to ride beyond perfect road surfaces, we need an adventure bike. I was chatting on another thread about the fact that any bike can be an adventure bike, and here's proof from a few years ago.

I had one and found it very wide between the legs, making it more challenging reaching the ground. It is a big chunk. Also consider a Guzzi. Same hauling power and easier to lug around.
