lack of rafter thrust. Wrong hurricane tiedown connector.

lack of rafter thrust. Wrong hurricane tiedown connector.

these are the wrong connectors for this application. The contractor was trying to create a cathedral style ceiling, but didn’t have any rafter thrust protection. These hurricane connectors are only for uplift, but not for rafter thrust.

everyone is still trying to figure out what the hell those heavily insulated number 12 wires are that are pigtailed off and go up into every single conduit that goes up into a condominium. What are your thoughts?

R301.1.2 of the IRC explains that the code is based on platform and balloon-frame construction for light-frame buildings, and balloon framing for concrete/masonry. Other systems must ensure force transfer, continuity, and compatible deformations to comply. #IRC #BuildingCodes

Would you believe that the contractor was going to pour concrete right up against that back wall that is framed with OSB on this exterior porch? The mason screwed up the foundation and the framer made it worse. This is what happens when you have an incompetent GC in charge.

This tangled mess of wires in an attic is a fire hazard waiting to happen. No junction box, no compliance, and clearly not done by a professional. Safety starts with qualified work. Learn more at TheBuildingCodeForum.com. #ElectricalSafety #BuildingCodes #TBCF #CodeCompliance

The inside of exterior walls, such as in this new single-family home in south Florida make it a bit challenging for plumbers and electricians. This mass wall will have foam board insulation installed for energy compliance. This would not work in most other climates in North America. Thoughts?
