I still hope you're wrong :(

It's sort of poetic
It's really cool that people are now using Bluesky not only from servers they host themselves, but servers they *wrote* themselves (or someone else here did), adding features the standard one doesn't have ❤️
Like, I now have 2FA again on my PDS because @baileytownsend.dev just went and built it
highly annoying read
Nothing is inevitable. In either direction. Hope and work.
This seems weirdly unsustainable at first, but it's OK because we're building a Dyson sphere around the solar system to host it.

Major passing. Wilson define an enduring aesthetic and influenced so many musicians, especially in regard to storytelling and time

and natsec which has to be first if it turns out to be real, as well as professional economists who believe there's only really one good solution to debt and demographic issues: AI causing hockeystick growth in productivity.
It's a perfect storm. Seemingly everyone is incentivized to reinforce it.

"So what do you do?"
"Oh not much, mostly daydreaming about dominating god."
It's like an affirmation 🤓💪
The guys who reason from first principles that you can farm karma with shrimp tubs. Of course they think LLMs reason when they themselves have no reasoning ability.
It's the guy who's really into Kant who keeps polling the room if the universe exists without eyes to see it, but there's actually so many of them and now they've congregated into "research groups" in search of God.
The academic literature is horrendous as well. Constantly building up super contrived mental abstractions and benchmarking nothing to avoid just describing what is conceptually pretty simple. But, alas, an accurate explanation of "spicy autocomplete" wouldn't receive infinite funding.
OpenAI is especially egregious at coming up with misleading terminology. "Reasoning" is another one, implying there's an entity there, thinking and feeling, when it's "just" a very impressive autocomplete and prompt building script and a scan for nearest neighbors in a large array

one of the most important things I’ve learned is that acquiring a skill is literally uncomfortable
that awful moment where you feel confused and stupid and embarrassed? it means you’re about to learn something. and it’s *mandatory* if you want to get better

My pocket Constitution
A good thing to keep in my pocket today.
Who knows, I might have the opportunity to do some dramatic reading.
For the longest time I shied away from low level programming. I always found it intimidating. It turns out it isn’t any harder than other programming. It’s just that everything written about it assumes too much. So here’s my attempt at an intro to machine code
