Can we fucking talk about the fact that shitbag corporations like Amazon don’t pay a single cent to maintain the roads they use, the transportation system they use, the courts they use, they pay fuckall for the infrastructure that is absolutely critical to their business.
WE Pay for ALL that shit.
Of course before potato peeling, the Swede had to haul lines and climb the rigging and furl sails and eat food. Then there was a good hour spent of fending off the horde of Big Mick who was not so big, but his crew were fairly large in all kinds of ways. The Swede’s arms were very tired of bludgeoning and stabbing and his feet hurt from running for his life. They had managed to run away and only lost six or so guys in the process, which was a win. But even though things on the Ræv had calmed down, potatoes still needed to be peeled. And there were a lot of them. But he didn’t mind peeling potatoes or polishing cannon balls or any of the other tasks an annoyed Quartermaster Holmström set him to do. These were supposed to be bad, but it was soothing to stay in the dark of the hold and peel. He could hum or sing to himself or tell himself stories or nap if he thought he could get away with it. And today was even better, because the only thing he liked more than small work was small work with other people that were not Fritjolf and his mates. Even better than that, aside from the Chicken Man who got small work almost every other day, there was a new guy from Big Mick’s crew that they’d accidentally taken with them when he’d got knocked cold.
