Bikes x2.
If you could see what I could see when I'm cleaning windows...
For all the wonderful detail in this pin-sharp 1933 pic of Massey's at 111 Clarkston Road, the icing on the cake is upstairs, where a wifey is doing the 'bum-shuffle' to clean her lower sash. Thrilling stuff!

Yes, the Clyde was filthy back then...
Very niche...
As it's #JazzAppreciationMonth, here's a picture of a Glasgow man, appreciating some 'jazz mags', near Queen Street Station, 58 years ago this week...

Back in 2000, I had a nice online chat with the author, who wrote: "Wow! You’re good for everything! I used your Lost Glasgow site all the time when I was writing The Long Drop btw! Thank you!"
Looking forward to returning to The Citz, in June, to see the stage adaptation of Denise Mina's dark drama about serial killer Peter Manuel, 'The Long Drop'.
Sadly, since this pic was taken in 1977, ticket prices have risen.

Yep.
Pic must be pre-1932, as that's when Chief Constable Percy Sillitoe phased out the old style police helmets for caps, with their black and white chequered band - the 'Sillitoe tartan'.
It's Saturday, so we're back with those old Anderston postcards. Now, best behaviour the lot of you, that big polis has just clocked us!…
So, kind of nice to come into a ghost tonight, my late mate, Andy, left, and Michael, my old pal out in Oz these last few decades, who's sister just found this pic while clearing his mum's house.
Look to be in their mid-20s - Shawlands legends both.
I even know what the round would be...
“My name is Maximus Decimus Meridias, commander of the armies of the north, general of the Felix legions, loyal servant to the true emperor Marcus Aurelius, father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife, and I will get my messages, in this life or the next.”

Pub was originally a branch of Thomas Anderson - fishmonger, poulterer, and game dealer.
One contemporary writer described streets of new tenements appearing around Glasgow almost overnight, 'like the palaces conjured up by Aladdin's genie'.
Pic: Virtual Mitchell
Now, that isn't the only treat in this picture; in the background we can see a new tenement going up.
Pictures of tenements being demolished are ten a penny, but pics of them being built are as rare as rocking horse shit.
A double-dunter today for your delight and delectation.
It's October 13, 1898, and the corporation high heid yins and guests have all got gussied up for the inauguration of Glasgow's first electric tram service, running from Springburn to Mitchell Street in the city centre.
End of the line...
Demolition of the St Enoch Railway Bridge, Stockwell Street - looking towards the Gorbals - 1978.
The building on the right is where Argos is now.
In 1968, with membership dwindling, and maintenance costs rising, the building was sold and remodelled as offices, with the club members moving to new, smaller, premises in Royal Exchange Square, where they remain to this day.
Built in 1842, the club was designed by Glasgow architects David and James Hamilton, and featured a double staircase leading to writing and reading rooms, a saloon, smoking rooms, a snooker room, dining rooms, and a selection of bedrooms for country members up in town for the day.
Back in black... Even I sometimes forget the sooty city I grew up in.
Here, on the corner of St Vincent and Buchanan Street, we're looking at the old Western Club - today's Apple Store - and the old Glasgow Stock Exchange.
Night!
