Southward shift in the AR in the models today is concerning after all this snow in the mountains. Equally concerning is the potential duration for AR conditions. This needs to be monitored closely through the weekend #wawx

Not usually a “vote blue no matter who” guy but I think this November if you don’t vote blue no matter who you’re probably a fascist

The RRFS is the new 3km NAM #wawx

The 3km NAM seems...reasonable? Not a destructive windstorm, but certainly disruptive. Scattered power outages are likely. Still potential for higher-end gusts depending on the track... #wawx

The 00Z HRRR is probably overdoing things a bit, but is a more reasonable worst-case scenario than the 3km NAM imo. This isn't necessarily what to expect tomorrow, but what to be prepared for in case these gusts unfold. #wawx

12z run did nudge slightly west, putting Puget lowlands more in play for gusty winds. Crazy to see the NAM and WRF stick to their guns

18Z 3km NAM trends stronger once again compared to its 12Z run. The 12Z ECMWF trended stronger/further west than its 06Z run. I think we're starting to establish the floor with 30-45mph gusts along I-5. The ceiling remains a big question mark, as well as winds at the coast. #wawx

The GFS is firmly in the camp of the NAM and the UW-WRF which have been firm in their convictions for a stronger wind storm on Christmas Eve. Still high uncertainty, this system will require an unusual amount of "Nowcasting", but odds for strong gusts seem to have increased #wawx

Serious wind storm incoming tonight. It will be a relatively quick-hitting system, but the max winds will pack a punch. Here are the low-end, most likely, and high-end scenarios. Be ready for power outages! #wawx

I'm not sure what the thresholds would, but I think we need PDS Flood Warnings, and I think the Skagit River would qualify tomorrow. Probably the Snohomish too... #wawx

A Flash Flood Watch has been issued for portions of western Skagit County and northwestern Snohomish County for flooding along the Skagit River. The NWS is highlighting potential for dike or levee failure. Can't recall seeing anything like this before... #wawx

Minimal precip here in Yakima so far, but the Yakima River is cooking with more woody debris moving downstream than I can remember in seven years here.
