4. Fleetwood Mac - Rumours
All their emotions are laid out in the lyrics, the songcraft is flawless, and somehow they made the record without murdering each other. #1977AlbumsTop20
In Chicago today—what was supposed to be a simple off-street cleaning at Eugene Field in Albany Park turned into an encampment sweep that lasted for hours.
City workers destroyed two unhoused residents’ belongings and shelter.
The wild reaction and incessant fan demands surrounding THE PITT Season 2 got me riled up, so I decided to take to @popheist.com and use this particular fandom moment to make a very important point about fiction.
The Story Owes You Nothing.
No! No!!
5. Earth, Wind & Fire - All 'N All
An unjustly forgotten album that's end-to-end dance party bliss with Afro-Brazilian sounds blended into the funk. #1977AlbumsTop20
There's actually a fun story behind this: the guy who was NYC superintendent of school buildings from 1891 to 1923 was an architect who believed in holistic learning, and wanted to inspire kids to rise out of poverty by giving them a sense of the possibility of granduer through construction.
Ravenous' Sunday Newsletter went out today, in which we recap what we published this week during our subscription drive, and I tell you what New York's real hottest restaurant is. Don't forget to subscribe or donate today @weareravenous.com www.weareravenous.com/email/29e74f...
6. David Bowie - Low
I've listened to this dozens of times, and I'm so far from wrapping my head around it. Which makes it endlessly replayable. #1977AlbumsTop20
gonzo the muppet wearing a suit. he is inside an ornate floral frame. below the frame is text that reads "gender failure". the image is textured to look grainy and printed.
gender failure gonzo
An enduring favorite of mine. If you know New York City (especially Brooklyn), it's a film you can smell and feel on your skin - it gets the place exactly right.
photo of a plaque reading "Southern railways company rule 1406 engine men are forbidden from entering the station with faulty cocks cocks should be greased and not leak as loose cocks may emit a foul odor that and may spray liquid frightening the horses and alarming the passengers by order. Robert Churchill manager Southern railways 1897"
who up entering the station with their faulty cocks
I'm so glad he's doing better!
"neurospicy" is the mustache finger tattoo of pop mental health terminology. it's a ukulele cover of black flag's "nervous breakdown". it says, "i'm crazy, sure, but in quirky, safe ways!"
7. Crosby, Stills & Nash - CSN
Disproportionately full of my favorite Crosby, Stills & Nash songs. Another one that's probably my dad's fault. #1977AlbumsTop20
The NCAA Gymnastics season completely passed me by this year, so I'm just sliding into the team final like I have any idea what's going on.
Momo, an orange and white cat, sits wedged among pillows, with one eye shut in an awkward wink.
Pigeon, a gray and white tabby cat, licks her paw while crouched on a blanket on top of the litter box cabinet. That white ceramic hippo in the foreground is a pencil holder for puzzling in front of the TV.
Wabecca, an orange tabby cat, stands on the tippy toes of her hind legs, with her front paws on the edge of the coffee table that she is exploring.
It's #Caturday! Everyone get weird!
"location of William Shakespeare’s only London property can now be pinpointed to a quiet Blackfriars street, thanks to the discovery of a previously unknown floorplan."

8. Commodores - Commodores
The two big hits are undisputed all-timers, but the secret sauce is that the deeper cuts are almost as great. #1977AlbumsTop20
I miss him so much. We're watching the new season of One Piece and just finished S2 of Hazbin Hotel - both of which he would have seen from a completely different angle than me.
I've struggled with posting in memory of Steven Attewell this year. Everything feels so small. When A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms aired it was the 1st time I'd touched ASOIAF since his death. It hurt watching & not getting to talk with him. Go read @stevenattewell.bsky.social's thoughts on the book
aside from my gobsmacked awe at how the pitt pulls off its practical effects, my feature on the finale is really motivated by a small set of questions:
how does robby see himself? how does the show see him? and is there any daylight between those two perspectives?

9. Jimmy Buffett - Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes
Music for drinking until the heartbreak goes away. Jimmy's influence on 2020s pop country is massive, but he did it better. #1977AlbumsTop20

If you need a reminder about what the outside spending looked like as a whole:
AIPAC's shells ended up spending over $7 million, with more than half that in pro-Fine ads, and then about an even split of anti-Biss and anti-Abughazaleh
A split bar chart of YouGov polling data with the headline: "Americans are most likely to say T. Rex is their favorite dinosaur, but many don't have a favorite." The chart has the sub-headline: "Which of the following is your favorite dinosaur? (%)." The chart has the note: "Note: "Other" includes responses of archaeopteryx, spinosaurus, plesiosaur, ankylosaurus, allosaurus, parasaurolophus, dilophosaurus, diplodocus, iguanadon, and pachycephalosaurus, as well as responses of "other." We know pterodactyls and plesiosaurs aren't dinosaurs. Opinion about dinosaurs comes from the question, "How much do you like or dislike dinosaurs?""
A shocking new poll result: Many Americans somehow don't have a favorite dinosaur.
And only 6% give the correct answer (triceratops).

10. La Sonora Ponceña - El Gigante del Sur
Jazzy salsa that makes me want to dance on a sunny beach with a glass of rum in my hand. #1977AlbumsTop20
