Yes, absolutely. 99% for "loans" of $50000 to $75000 supposedly available to me. I block and block and block but there are an endless number of phone numbers ready to bombard me again. I usually get about 7 or 8 per day.
You asked people to ask themselves why. One answer is the fear of being sued by assholes who've proven they will because they've done it before. I get what you're saying, but the consequences can be really really bad. So yeah...fear. That's what you're discussing and it can be very legitimate.

176 items in today's Woo plugin changelog... 176. Imagine if one of these changes broke a site and your job was to figure out which one. I hate these kinds of changelogs. They make me really nervous.

I didn't want anyone to feel tied to it. I wanted them to be able to self-host their rings if they wanted to. If I did that wrong, happy to discuss.
It's very possible I got something wrong. The object was that if my site went down and went away, I wanted to make sure people could still host their webrings themselves. There are advantages to choosing the free hosted version because they get in the directory, have management tools, etc. but...
