I may or may not stock up on food and other essentials before rain days just so I won’t have to go outside and be met with the inconvenience of *weather*. My ppl at home would laugh if they could see how I dress when temperatures go below 15 degrees Celsius… 😬

The idea that video game composers can’t possibly score film/TV is ridiculous. Meanwhile game companies are hiring film composers who haven’t played a game in ages (or ever), who have no interest or love for the medium, and who hand it off to their teams for a quick paycheck. Make it make sense.

Had to reactivate my Facebook account after years just for a minute to retrieve an old login. What. Was. That. The amount of spam notifications and A.I. nonsense is crazy. Forgot to deactivate it for a day or so and there were hundreds of spam notifications. Is this normal now?

I swear there’s more “composer coaches” now than actual working composers. The sheer amount of ppl selling you vague secondhand “professional” advice to “make it” as a composer when they themselves never managed to have a successful career in the field is astounding. It’s a pyramid scheme.

I’ll also always have more time than a parent. That’s a whole other full-time job I’m not doing. Shaming ppl for not doing what person xyz is doing is not recognizing the full picture. It’s all circumstantial.

I have yet to see a wealthy person work harder or at least as hard as their lowest paid employee. It’s all a myth to justify their astronomical pay while they basically pay a dozen ppl around them so they don’t ever have to lift a finger at work or at home. Their money multiplies while they sleep.

“You have the same 24 hrs in the day as xyz” is a fundamentally flawed platitude used to shame ppl. Money buys convenience which in turn buys you extra time. The more money I make the more time I have because I can outsource daily tasks AND not work 3 jobs at the same time to pay the bills.

I understand that rage bait makes the most money but I passionately despise YouTube channels that solely exist to bash other people’s work instead of giving nuanced criticism. It’s usually content made by people who have zero experience and have never published anything original themselves.

This is the first year in my 12-year career that I prioritized working exclusively with ppl I like. Ppl who appreciate me and my creativity. Ppl who don’t suck the joy out of a project. Professionals who genuinely care. It’s been the best, most relaxing and rewarding year of my career.
