A winter storm watch is in effect for a weekend storm expected to dump multiple feet of snow across the Sierra Nevada, giving a late-season boost to California's dismal smowpack.
This is not who we should be—but ICE is so desperate for stats they detain a woman who is legally applying for her green card, a scholarship college student who teaches Sunday School. Trump would have us believe he’s taking criminal aliens off the streets. It’s a lie www.nytimes.com/2026/04/05/u...

A coalition of community advocates, including the Public Defender’s Office, is investigating SFPD’s involvement with ICE at the airport on Sunday.
They filed a formal complaint today and are demanding public records on how the police response went down.

A new analysis suggests that at least half of the ICE arrests that occurred in and around S.F. were at routine immigration appointments.
Those arrests were at private ICE field offices and, unlike the courthouse arrests, hidden from public scrutiny.

there is no evidence for mail-in voting fraud. but there is the belief that mail-in votes somehow "change" the result, as if there is something illegitimate about counting all of the votes
Alphabet, Amazon, Meta, and Tesla paid just 4.9% of their profits in federal corporate taxes in 2025.
They have seen their collective tax bill drop by $95B thanks to two rounds of Trump tax cuts.
Meanwhile, they've laid off thousands of workers.
Trickle-down economics was always a scam.
subscriptions to COYOTE have slowed down by a LOT. and yes, I’m worried, but I also know that people are generally terrified out there. I’m just glad we’re still committed to giving people the knowhow to survive. stories like this one will be free to read forever www.coyotemedia.org/i-hosted-a-m...
Immigration agents arrested a woman at San Francisco international airport Sunday night while her daughter stood by, crying.
They were not in uniform. Multiple SFPD officers stood by, sparking concern about sanctuary law violations.

I don’t want anyone I know and care about to fly. This looks bad and could have been much worse.

Map of U.S., from coolwx.com, showing locations currently experiencing record-breaking temperatures. There are countless such locations in the Western U.S., with hundreds of red dots (locations breaking daily record highs) and countless pink dots (locations breaking March monthly record highs). The region of record heat extends from the Pacific Coast to east the Mississippi River, and from Canada to Mexico. The region of red and pink dots is vastly larger even than yesterday's (or the day before, or the day before, or the day before, same as it ever was, same...as it ever was...).
Incredibly, even *more* locations across U.S. are today experiencing their warmest March temperatures on record--many by a wide margin, with some even breaking April records. This includes most or all of: AZ, UT, CO, NM, WY, NE, KS, MO, IA, plus portions of many other states. 🫠

For years, cops used minor violations as excuses (pretexts) to stop & search Black and brown drivers. The Pretext Stop Policy addresses those harms while keeping communities safe.

🚨New, independent UC Berkeley research shows that SF's Pretext Stops Policy is WORKING.🚨 Check out the researcher's SF Chronicle op-ed: tinyurl.com/Chron-pretext.
The analysis found that the policy *reduced* disproportionate stops of Black & Latino drivers without sacrificing anyone’s safety.

This week, the Senate starts its debate over Trump's SAVE Act, a bill that, if it were to pass, experts say would "be the worst voter suppression law that Congress has ever enacted.”
