It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

But A.I. is a parasite. It attaches itself to a robust learning ecosystem and speeds up some parts of the decision process. The parasite and the host can peacefully coexist as long as the parasite does not starve its host. The political problem with A.I.'s hype is that its most compelling use case is starving the host - fewer teachers, fewer degrees, fewer workers, fewer healthy information environments.

This is something A.I. shares with crypto. They are both parasitic technologies. Crypto can’t exist without the U.S. Dollar and A.I. can’t exist without access to a robust ecosystem of ever expanding human knowledge.

"Eerie Statue", painted all the way back in 2015 for the #Hearthstone League of Explorers expansion. I was really happy with the sense of weight and striding forward in this one.

Who is guarding and maintaining our nuclear arsenal and keeping it from disaster? A civil servant.
Who is testing and regulating our water supply, making sure it's safe? A civil servant.
Who has our back when our boss violates workplace safety rules?

Who is tracking the trajectory of the next hurricaine? A civil servant.
Who is gathering evidence to prosecute a chemical spill? A civil servant.
Who is caring for an elderly veteran? A civil servant.
Who is bringing broadband to underserved communities? A civil servant.

I think there needs to be a full campaign to elevate and celebrate public service and the work that people do on our behalf for the public good. We need to know what Musk's cuts will cost us, and the best way to do that is through story. Public service is beautiful! Let's talk about it!
