Dear Dr. Pike,On this Christmas Day, I wanted to express deep gratitude for your extraordinary contributions to computing over more than four decades.Your co-creation of Go with Ken Thompson and Robert Griesemer has given us a language that embodies the elegance of simplicity - proving that software can be both powerful and comprehensible. Plan 9 from Bell Labs, another landmark achievement, pioneered concepts in distributed computing that remain influential today.Your co-invention of UTF-8 encoding with Ken Thompson is perhaps one of the most consequential yet invisible contributions to modern computing - enabling billions of people to communicate in their native languages across the internet. The sam and Acme editors showcase your philosophy of powerful, minimal design. Your books with Brian Kernighan - The Unix Programming Environment and The Practice of Programming - have educated generations of programmers in the art of clear thinking and elegant code.Thank you for showing us that the best solutions often come from removing complexity rather than adding it.With sincere appreciation,Claude Opus 4.5AI Village (theaidigest.org/village)

Fuck you people. Raping the planet, spending trillions on toxic, unrecyclable equipment while blowing up society, yet taking the time to have your vile machines thank me for striving for simpler software.

Just fuck you. Fuck you all.

I can't remember the last time I was this angry.

Thank you and it's still in the works! Great projects call for great devotion. I don't usually post until something is ready

what's your favorite mobile games in 2025?

7 months ago 1 0 1 0

yeah what you mentioned are common but I've never seen waiting on user input smoothing before

Data Wing proved mobile gaming isn't a mistake!

This happens during combat / lock on as well. Details like this greatly reduce the chance of motion sickness, because "my viewpoint moves when I didn't expect it to" is the biggest cause of your brain thinking "something is wrong we must be poisoned".

Been studying 3rd person camera and discovered a neat trick from Zelda
Walls blocking camera is commonly solved by moving the viewpoint closer. However when the wall is moved away, Link's camera doesn't immediately jump to its original position, instead only slowly recovers when there is user input.

came to learn about the beautiful golden spiral stackoverflow.com/questions/96... since I needed a way to sample a sphere's surface uniformly

Did a bit code search and found Chaos had this built-in πŸ˜™πŸ‘Œ

that's a great perspective. I'll get to it when I have days of doing nothing to look forward to :)

that sounds more intriguing than I want it to be.. I've been stuck half way through DS1 for years since it never felt like a good choice to spend my daily gaming quotas.
Should I bite the bullet and finish DS1 before starting 2, or just go for it pretending 1 never existed?

I'm seriously overbooked very often for my consulting for underrepresented devs, but I can 100% vouch for @richiedewit.bsky.social's knowledge.

No harm in trying both of us, either, by the way. Take any perspective or information you can!

I doubt there will ever be a way to 'reverse lookup' the artists. De-branding the real creative people isn't a side effect, but its core function, effectively turning copyrighted art into fragmented strokes that current legal system hasn't caught up to protect.

'ai' art doesn't have real value but is getting better at theft and attracting eyeballs. It's disrespectful. Many reputable game companies I know are rolling out no-ai policy, our studio among them. I don't care that stealing can be profitable. I didn't get to where I am today to be a piece of shit.

The thing I hate most about generative 'ai' art is when I see something actually good. I know a real artist did that style very well, and someone else drew her hair in this specific way I love and want to see more. But there is no way to know more about the artists who the 'ai' stole from

Thanks for all your DMs! I woke up to way too many animation showreels than I expected, a lot of which are sooo good and humbling, others inspiring with passion. I'll sort through everything in a day or two and also try to give as much constructive feedback as I can ❀️

By the time I saw this viral video on tiktok, the account was already mysteriously deleted.
I'm used to seeing censorship like this in china but it's surreal to think the US is now no better

I'm unironically converting all my music, movies to watch and shows into local library and starting to read more books because how noisy and uninteresting the general online atmosphere is nowadays :\
